Kentucky Colonel Scam Reports & Reviews (2)

Contacted by phone shortly after assuming ownership of a business. Was told that business has been a supporter for many years and asked if we would like to continue support. Identified themselves as "The Kentucky Colonels". I stated that I would like to receive further information by email or mail. A few days later received an invoice for $50 that was due upon receipt. The information on the invoice stated that it was actually Kentucky Jaycees and it was for an ad in their publication called the Kentucky Colonel. I searched online to see what the publication was and can not find anything about the publication or even the organization Kentucky Jaycees. I received another phone call asking for payment and I said that I was "looking into it" so that I could get off the phone quickly. A few days later, someone showed up at my business saying that they were there to collect payment. I asked for information about the organization an the publication and she said that she didn't know anything about it, she was just told to come to my address and pick up a check for payment. She suggested that I call the phone number on the invoice- after several attempts no one has answered. I looked up the address that was listed as the publication office and it is a UPS store mailbox. I am continuing to get invoices every two weeks. TIN-35-1494230. 1-800-549-1983. Publication Office 3044 Bardstown Road #197. Louisville, KY 40205

Very Interesting. I've been called by that guy with the Kentucky Jaycees for years! Every year I tell him to stop calling me. I've been doing this a long time and have the distinct feeling that is a complete scam.
But more importantly - I've recently been contacted by a guy with the "The Forty & Eighter" news letter. Again, the whole advertising in a newsletter that they can't send me a copy of and nothing can be found online about it.
In addition, and most surprisingly, the organization you mentioned, and The Forty & Eighter, seems to have THE SAME TIN - 35-1494230. At this point, I'm contacting the Attorney General - I recommend everyone else who have been contacted by this guy do the same. Let them figure where the truth lies.
