My husband took a call in June 2015, where Localkeyworddirectory.com asked him to verify information for our company. As he doesn't deal with our business advertising he verified the info. I got back 10 minutes later and called them right away to cancel and explained the situation once I heard what had happened as I get lots of companies try to renew listings we never had. They were not and never have been a vendor for us, and we've been in business for 9 years now. As far as I was concerned everything was taken care of. Since then I've gotten 3 invoices. After each one, I call and tell them I cancelled it and would not pay. Today I received a harassing phone call from their debt collections (internal) being told to pay and they'd give me a 20% break in the fee. Which was $685.00. I told them I was calling the ScamPulse.com on them, and she said so what. I told her that this was a scam and i had looked online and she said that you will always have unhappy people writing back reviews. I never received a proof for advertising or any kind of email correspondence to verify an add for us. Every advertiser we work with will send email proofs, pricing and require a signature to sign off on the ad. The lady today said that I received a CD from them, which I told her was a lie and I have NOT received anything from them. She said that she had a recording that verified my husband agreeing to the $685 fee, but upon playing it back to me, it is obvious that they have dubbed his voice says "yes" after each question, which they would have gotten when they initially called to inquire. They could not provide any recording of me calling to cancel or any calls since then. The lady told me they record ALL their calls. As far as I'm concerned this is a scam and I will not be paying anything to them. Apparently we will be receiving false lawyer papers next in the mail. I know that you always send to collections before a lawyer as lawyers cost money, and to claim back $685 it's not even worth it. Please advise small businesses of this scam, as $685 is a lot of money for a small business, especially in Alberta today. I also looked up the address and it comes up as a pharmacy, not an advertising business. The postal code listed online is not a postal code for Montreal Quebec.
