I gave my social security number, birthdate, bank account numbers. They wanted username and password. I was offered a loan. Scammer was pretending to be lending club.

• Sep 07, 2024

I was offered a loan by phone from a person claiming to be working with lendingclub.com website posing as the real lending club in San Francisco. Told at first that I qualified for $1,000 loan with $100 payment for 12 months I also received a second phone call from someone posing as a banker who claimed his name was Albert and his number was lc142 who told me if I had a high enough credit score they would give me my loan in 45 minutes but because my score wasn't high enough I wish to pay $100 before I would be able to receive any money for an insurance plan on the unsecured loan amount in case of damages or forfeiture or unable to pay the bill. Luckily for me I do not have any money to front for this loan and that's why I was looking into personal loans in general. They got the last four digits of my banking account number to PayPal and my routing number but did not go through with it as I did not have money to pay up front.

- Henderson, NV, USA • Jun 27, 2024

I was approach via email about a free loan. I didn’t know it was a fraudulent company until I noticed money being removed from my bank account. They said they needed to verify my bank account was real. They asked for my banking info. Which I gave thinking it was a real loan. After I noticed money was being taken out with out my knowledge or approval I contacted my bank to let them know I had been a victim of fraud.

- Wickliffe, OH, USA • Dec 12, 2023

I had applied online for a loan December 1, 2022. I needed money quickly. I thought I filled out an online application with LendingClub. They received $248. I gave my bank account number. They got a hold of three mobile checks. I contacted my bank and reported it. One of the scammers is Alvin White 818-253-4376.

- Olmsted Falls, OH, USA

Called lending club and they have no such phone number happened on 9-26-23

I explained to the Jimmy Arthur i didn't agree with the loan, He reply I will still have to pay a amount back even if i never receive the loan.

I was contacted by an individual claiming to be an agent for Lendingclub.com and they told me that I had been approved for a $5,000 loan. They sent me an agreement PDF and then asked me for my driver's license in a photo attachment via email. After that was sent they told me in 3 separate emails that I needed to purchase prepaid cards; the first was for $200, the second was $229.16, and the third was $250. They proceeded to attempt to get another $458.32 from me at which point I had depleted my bank account so I refused and asked for a refund. The person, "Jason", promised he'd refund my money and then never contacted me again. I emailed and called several times with no response back.

I was told that I was approved for $2,500 to a $5,000 loan that somebody would be contacting me with the area code 415 or 418

They said they would deposit money into my checking acct and I was to withdrawal the money and buy gift cards then take a picture of cards and receipt and text it to them so the could help bump up the credit rating. This was done four times. That's about when I got wise to the scam. We told them we needed the personal loan to pay for my moms funeral.

They target financially vulnerable people looking for loans and offer a 5-10,000 loan with a great interest rate and monthly rate that's too

good to be true.i wasapproved for a 5000 loan for 36mo. @$154 a month which is doable.these guys are from India or some middle east country because they have very strong accent.his name is David Cooper

- Bend, OR, USA

Lending Club utilizes text messages offering loans with reasonable interest. They are not the real Lending Club(https://www.lendingclub.com) as I discovered after being a victim of their scam. They prey on the financially vulnerable. The steps to the cons are the following: 1) Responding to the text with the available amount of loans in a professionally looking flyer, 2) con man confirming the loan amount, 3) con man requesting access to your bank account to make a deposit to be used to buy ******* money cards, 4) con man requests the victim drive to ******* and purchases the money cards in the amount of the direct deposit, 5) victim buys money cards and provides the money card number/expiration date and CVV, and taking a picture of the front of the receipt back of the card to the con man, 6) con man promising the loan will settle in your bank account soon, 7) the loan never settles in the bank, 8) con man requesting additional cash from the eventual victim to secure the loan, 3) con man removing the direct deposits from your bank account and thus creating a worst financial position for the victim. 9) con then blocks the victim's phone number, and 10) the victim falls prey to this scam with no recourse to getting their funds back.

I was trying to get a personal loan for $4000 and used a loan app on my sell phone to apply. I was then called by someone claiming to be from Lending Club company. on February 10th and 13th they deposited in my account 500 to pay back to increase my credit score in order to get the loan. I didn't get the loan and my bank account is overdrawn by $1000.

Was approved for a loan through lending club for 5000 and they wanted to boost my credit by depositing 651.00 dollars into my bank and wanted to send it right back. I had to go to Walmart to do the transaction after they put the money in my account then I noticed that I was reimbursed by my Geico account 6 times for a claim that was made .. so I looked online for scams and found the same thing happened to someone else . Called the bank they said I had made all those claims and they put money in my account and the scammer took that claim money .. so they made those claims with my account info and got paid which left me with the bill .. I should have known it was a scam when I only had to pay 4.6 on my loan of 5000 in 24 months with only 261.00 as my whole loan charge after 24 months ..

Company approved me for a loan didn't say anything about paying any money upfront. Every time I would pay them they wanted more money First 200,350, 400, So when I finally got to the very last stage. They wanted 399.00 to transfer it into my account. When I refused the loan and said I wanted my money back they said I need to give them 150.00 to cancel my loan. I payed everything over cash app. Which I will send you evidence also. All in all I lost over 1,200. I have went to report them to the police they said they would look into it. I hope you guys can help me get my money back. I gave them my social security number, banking account number.

IT ALL STARTED I APPLYED FOR A LOAN ONLINE SO I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS COMPANY CALLED LENDING CLUB IT FIRST STARTED OFF ME SPEAKEN TO SOMEONE UNTIL I REQUESTED TO SPEAK TO A MANAGER. He said, his name is Norman Blackwell called me from this phone number 915-295-0014, but asked me to call him back at 915-208-4889. In which I did, I was trying to apply for a loan and he said I was approved for 8,000, but that I had to give him my bank information and me trusting him I did just that. Well, then he said, he would deposit 300.00 dollars, but then I would have to go to a store and send it back, and my funds will be deposited later today, then he said tomorrow morning. I asked him why would I want to do that if you're going to be w/drawing every month and why not just take it out. He said he couldn't. Well while he was trying to explain how it works I got on another call to call Lending Club at 888-596-3157 to confirm this loan officer, and what he was asking me to do was legit. He said if I shared information go to my bank and close that account, and get another account open in fear that he might want to take out money that I don't have, that is why I was asking for a loan. I'm glad I did that. He kept on calling me, but I told him I couldn't talk because I was at work. But, I will be going to the bank and reopening another account, and will never try to get another loan like that ever again. I'll just have to suck it up with what I got. But, yes we need to be very careful whom to trust. So care on this so call Norman Blackwell.

Was told I was getting a loan for 5000.00 then was asked to pay 200.00 before they could release the money then they wanted 300.00 more and said in 45 min I would have my money . Then they wanted 500.00 because my credit score was low and they couldn’t transfer the money .

I was trying to get a loan I'm about to lose my car i went on line to get a loan from this company lending club someone using they name scam me out of 1500 my bank I did not have any money in the bank now the bank don't trust me I'm doing bad all I wanted to do is keep my car they scammer ask for my account and routing number that's it I thought they was going to loan me some money

- Grand Junction, CO, USA

Tried to obtain personal banking information and stated I qualified for 5000 loan but needed to pay first month through cash app.. They've attempted this twice

I was looking for a small loan for car repair and was contacted by an Individual who was said to represent a company called lending club. I did my research and the company is a real. He said his name was Eric Watson. I was asked who I bank with, passwords, youngest child's name, SS#, account #, routing number, address, and lots more. He then said he was sending me $225.00 as good faith and for me to go to a store, purchase only certain gift cards then put that $225 on the card and give him the card #. When he received it then the loan amount would be put in my account. It's been three days since this incident and my bank account had been closed by the bank, I was told I needed to speak with security, my life has been turned upside down and still dealing with the aftermath.
