- Rancho Mirage, CA, USA • Feb 13, 2025

I was called a multiple of times and I tried to make them cancel an order for wrist braces that they initiated previously. They persisted to try to get my Medicare number in order to complete the transaction I chose to terminate. They refused to stop calling me by their actions. They called me again today after repeatedly asking them to cancel any order and to stop calling me.

I had a missed call. The caller ID just said United States. They left no message so I called it back and a man with an Indian accent used my full name when he said hello before I even said anything. I asked who he was and he said he’s with Health Services connected to Medicare and I was eligible to receive food stamps. He went into a script I could tell he was reading from. I stopped him and said why am I on this list—I never signed up for this. He said anyone with chronic health problems can get food stamps. I have no chronic health issues but didnt tell him that. I asked why he didn’t just leave a message. He changed the subject and said once I answered some health questions he’d send me an email detailing everything and I could also opt out via the email. I said I was uncomfortable giving any info about myself over the phone. He said he already has all my info—my name, SSN, address, phone, and birthdate, which he then rattled off. He says he’s with Medicare and they have all my information already. I said this sounds very fishy and I hung up. I looked up the phone using reverse lookup and it identified the number as a landline operated by NUSO LLC.

I got a call from someone pretending to be from Medicare verifying I had Medicare A and B They asked about my Medicare number, medications I take, medical history. I didn’t give social security. They did verify my address. They said they would give me a back brace and knee brace. I told them I didn’t need them but insisted on sending them free. I called the number back this afternoon and the lady told me scammers were using her number.

- Mesa, AZ, USA • Dec 19, 2024

Person with foreign accent said they were sending me a new Medicare Card plus free of charge knee and back braces taken care of by Part B Medicare, I refused to be sent anything that I had not ordered and said not to send anything and I hung up. This has happened numerous times. Very frustrating to keep receiving these calls.

I got a call this morning from a 612 number and the next three digits matched mine. My Google pixel normally alerts me to potential spam and this call came through.with no spam alert on it. The woman sounded credible but had a heavy accent wanting to know if I had gotten my "new Medicare" card. That's right - not Medica or BCBS etc - MEDICARE. I told the caller I was not aware that there was a need for Medicare to send out a new card. I asked her name etc and she worked hard to sound legitimate. I told her I would go on to my Medicare account and confirm I had the correct cards and I hung up.

- Hutchinson, MN, USA • Nov 07, 2024

I got a call saying I qualify for a free back massager brace that is qualified through Medicare. They knew my address and asked me to conferm everything like address zipcode and then asked me for height and weight. Then after I gave them that I almost gave my Medicare number to them but I didn't have it on me, then they asked for my Social Security Number and then I thought it was weird. So I said I wasn't going to tell them. They kept trying to get me up to get it and I kept saying no after I realized it didn't seem right. Now I'm afraid they are just going to send it out or use my address for something.

The person called & said he was from Medicaire & was taking information for new plastic Medicare cards. He said that Medicaire had sent out letters for this but most of the letters were stollen. He already had my name, birth date & an old address. I gave him my present address. He then asked for my Medicaire number. I told him that I was not comfortable giving my Medicaire number over the phone. He said it was ok to give him the number because no one but me could use the number anyway. Then I asked him why the above letters were stolen if no one could use the numbers & he said he didn’t know. He asked again for my Medicaire number & I asked him to give ME my number & I would tell him if it was right or wrong. He said that was against policy. He kept asking me for my number & started to get irritated. He asked again for my number & I asked him to repeat the number he had to me & he said if I didn’t give him the number I would no longer be able to use my Medicaire card & I would be charged $1,000. I said ok & hung up.

She had an Indian accent and said she was with Medicare. She said this was a yearly follow up from last September. Then, she said "the federal government"..., and that is when I interrupted and said, "the federal government has nothing to do with me" to which she chuckled and replied, "we are on a recorded line". That is when I hung up. I called the number back and the call immediately went to voicemail said, "the person you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time".

I called back the scam number and it was a woman selling health insurance! I told her I am in the do not call registry and she scolded me saying she is not a fake person. But a medical insurance company and she has all my info! She was mean! I told her to remove my number immediately! I’m sick of these calls! All day! Every day!

A foreign sounding person claimed to be a Medicare representative. He told me I needed a new 2024 Medicare card because of changes to the program. He needed my new address, and at that point I hung up. Medicare does not call you for information. They do everything by mail. Beware!

- Tooele, UT, USA • Jul 02, 2024

They identified themselves as a medicare representative. Asked personal information, including insurance. Wanting to send the person a back brace.

When confronted about asking personal information, & misrepresenting themselves. They denied saying they dont call people, its an incoming line only.
