Knocked at my back door and ssked if my landlord lived at this sddress. I told him No, he dors not reside here. He then claimed to be Medicare rep and turned around and left. Also had paper badge around his neck. Not sure what type of scam he was trying to run. Going forward will not open my door and ask what they want thru the glass.

Contact calling from same place, using different numbers. When I said I wasn’t interested they immediately kept calling back.

- Akron, OH, USA • Feb 19, 2024

Scammers w/ Asian dialects call me from numbers in Kinsman, Ohio saying they are calling from Medicare. They ask if I received my some-kind-of card. They weren't sure what I should have received for Medicare so I said I had not. One of them asked if I had my Medicare card and my Medicaid card. I am not on Medicaid. They told me they wanted to be sure I received the discounts I deserved. When I asked what discounts they hung up. This has happened repeatedly since Medicare kicked in Feb. 1.

I got a call from 3044361978 and the woman asked if I have Medicare part A and B and then hung up on me when I said yes. Said she was with some health organization. I was half asleep when I said yes then she hung up on me. I tried to call back but it wouldn't.

Someone called impersonating Medicare. They said they were sending me a new card and they knew the name and address of my primary doctor. They then asked for the card number on my current card. When confronted with me thinking they were scamming me, another woman got on the phone saying she was the manager. I contacted Medicare and they said they are not issuing new cards and that it was a scam.

Foreign accent man called saying from Medicare. Asked to see what color on bottom of my medicare card, then If "A" and "B" were listed, then asked for the number on my card and I said no. and asked for a telephone # to call him back. he gave the number 571-677-6970. Received phone call from 575-652-2786 that said they were Medicare. I believe it was a Medicare scam phone call. They kept telling me that they were calling from Medicare and had promotion going on and could save me some money. I refused to answer there questions and they hung up.  I called the phone number back and phone number came up as disconnected.

Wanted for me to answer “yes”to did I receive my new Medicare card. I was all set with my cards & told him so. He just hung up. I redialed the number to check if it was Medicare. No such number in service.“

I have received dozens of calls from this number, which never leaves a message. I finally answered. Man claimed to be calling from Medicare, knew my address and Medicare number and wanted to know if I had received the genetic testing kit Medicare had sent me. He claimed the kit would determine whether I was genetically susceptible to heart disease or cancer.

- Culver, OR, USA

Initial call was regarding Medicare providing a testing kit to determine from saliva on a swab whether my heart issues are genetic. I received the swab kit, called phone number provided to be certain I would do this procedure correctly and returned it in the packaging provided. That was maybe a month ago. Yesterday, I received a similar call from a call center representing Medicare with basically the same approach. The man "Mark" asked for my doctors' names, verified with me the phone numbers and addresses. The call ended with a busy signal on my end, but I called back using the number given to me to "know this wasn't a SCAM". I left a message. EARLY this morning my call was returned. This call was different and all about qualifying me to receive a Medicare Gold card without a number but with what credit cards are using for ID now. I was told that all of my prescriptions would be covered for one year, but confusion reigned when I questioned that. I was told that after a year I would need to pay any new prescriptions. Then I was even more confused when I was told that I would be receiving two knee braces when I have pain in only one, but "they" had been in touch with my orthopedic doctor and he approved these braces and that I was say I needed two braces. Next I was to speak with their shipping department. I was put on hold only to be disconnected with a busy signal several times. Each time the same man named Michael would apologize, thank me for my patience, and try to connect me again. The final connection went through. The "screener" asked me questions that I was to answer like Michael had said. Then she asked for my permission to bill Medicare for these medical devices to which I said, "I thought your were with Medicare and I would be getting a Gold card." Her comment, "Oh no! we are the medical supplier. I think this call has gone wrong. I cannot send you these knee braces." SCAM?????

- Canton, OH, USA

Foreign female said new Medicare cards were being issued and wanted information from my current card. I refused and hung up. The caller had my address, name and phone number.

- Port Matilda, PA, USA

I received a call from 8144424570 on January 5, 2021 around 5:45 pm. When I picked the phone i said hello the caller introduced herself as Sandy (or Cindy) and she was calling on behalf of Medicare. The next thing she told me that I was on a recorded line and she followed it by asking the question whether I was hearing her clearly. I responded “yes” and she was there for three seconds and she hung up.

This number has been calling me many times a day and disturbing my work

I hung up on caller as no one in this household is eligible for Medicare.

I've been getting calls from area code 769, the callers are foreign, they call all day and all night. One of the callers said I should be on Medicare or Medicaid and another trying to sell me life insurance. They are calling from a boiler room.

- Yakima, WA, USA

Asked for my age and info for new medicare perks

- Evans, GA, USA

Pretending to be Medicare and offering services for the elderly. Will come out and be an assistant them. Also offering diabetes products telling me my Dr will pay for the product.

My parents received several phone calls within a 4 hr period asking if they had received their blue or red medicare card. First call was from a woman with a number that was local to their area in VA. Voice had heavy accent and there was loud music playing in the background. Second call was from a man with a number in CA. Voice with heavy accent and loud music playing in the background. The VA number has called a second time by the time I'm writing this. Luckily, my father did not let the call progress and hung up. He phoned me to see if I could find anything on the internet. Although no personal information exchanged, the caller did know my father's name and address. From what I've found, no unsolicited calls should be made from government agency.
