- Wichita Falls, TX, USA

I got a call from someone saying I was going to be taken off of medicare.

- Tarpon Springs, FL, USA

I was contacted by a "Medicare" representative who knew that I have back issues and have received a back brace in the past. He claimed that Medicare is going to send me a new one. When he asked for my new Medicare ID, I asked him why he was requesting it, since he's calling from Medicare. He said that they had my old number and needed to verify with my new number. Needless to say, I told him that I wouldn't do that and to give me a number to call back, on my own. He gave me another number which was not on the caller ID he called me on. As follows

561-218-4151.

"Hello, my name is Christie from the Medicare Office. Can you hear me?"

As soon as I answered "yes" the call ended. So, what did I sign up for, and am I going to be targeted in the future because of the "yes" answer?

I received a phone call from a man who said he was from Medicare. He said Medicare needed to verify my information to be sure their's was correct. He asked me to read off all the information on my card. I (foolishly) did as he asked...including my social security number. Once he got my information, he said, "That's all I need." and ended our conversation. Shortly afterwards, I realized I had made a mistake; but, it was too late.

Once we realized my mistake, we started the process to protect me from financial fraud and identity theft. We contacted my bank, the credit reporting agencies, the ScamPulse.com and the local police. I also wanted awareness of this type of fraud, so that others might not be taken in by this scammer.

- North Canton, OH, USA

I received a phone call saying there is legal action against my Social Security. I called the phone number back explaining that I'm not of age for SS, he preceded to ask for my SS#, 3 times he asked me for my number and I explained that I wasn't that stupid to give it over the phone, he hung up on me. The phone number 863-440-5635 is where the call came from.

- Canton, OH, USA

Received a letter in the mail that looked like it was from Medicare, with a new card and they gave an 888-898-5181 number to call. When you call the number they want you to sign up with First Alert with a monthly fee of $49. This is not a new Medicare card and has no affiliation with Medicare.
