Last eve. while fixing supper I received a call from a lady who claims she worked for Care Plus which is associated with Medicare. She was calling from 270-828-7544.
She began by ASK ING ME IF i HAD GOTTEN MY MEDICARE BOX. I asked her what that was. She said it contained wrist braces and would help me to lift heavy objects. She said Medicare would pay for it.b She said it was already approved for me. I gave her my birthday. Then she gave me to another lady who asked questions about my pain level, I began to feel uncomfortable about all this and wouldn't answer all her questions.
Then she told me a doctor would be calling me. I told her I didn't need a dr. to call me. I called the number back right away, and got the message, "this number is no longer in service, etc. et."
Today we have gotten 13 calls from 270-828- prefixes, with no names attached.; The last four numbers have been: 7553; 7256; 7319; 7553; 6134; 7319 (this was used twice at two different times.; 5914; 6566; 6169; 7582;7423. 5758
The interesting thing is that our prefix is 270-828- and that's why I answered the first call, thinking it was someone locally trying to get hold of us. I have tried to call all these numbers and I get the recording that they are no longer in service.
I feel pretty foolish, but thought I would start with you folks before I call the phone company.
The old people in this house cannot take an afternoon nap without being interrupted at least twice in half an hour from "unavailable people" We usually don't answer numbers from people we don't know, but yesterday I let my guard down.
Sincerely,
Ann and Joe Sipes.
