Montgomery Ward Reports & Reviews (11)

I received a similar letter today. I know this company has been out of buusness for over 20 years so what's up?
MC in the letter above has great insight. I planned not responding to it since I know this company is defunct. To the shredder!
What a pity these criminals have nothing better to do than to harass hard working folks for an easy buck. Yes get a skill, go to school, do something productive with your time & stop grifting!
Thanks everyone for the info.

I received an invoice thanking me for my recent order. The invoice is exactly like the other ones mentioned on this website. The item was delivered in Humble Texas on a Sunday by FedEx. I never placed this order. I have never been to the state of Texas-I lived in Indiana, This has been going on now for around 5 months--a bill every month. They even called me. (I think they got my phone number off the net or a phone book--it's a land line). I told them I didn't order anything and that I wasn't going to pay. I didn't give them anymore info like my sss number, etc. I got a letter from them yesterday stating that I am behind on payments and need to call. I am not calling. When they did call they did mention identity theft and that they would send me a paper to fill out. I told them I wasn't filling anything out and that I wasn't paying it because I didn't place the order! I thought it was probably a way to get my sss number or other info. Now I am getting catalogs from them! Will this ever stop? I am retired and can't afford this bullsh--! I did check my credit reports, and wards wasn't mentioned. I am willing to ruin my credit before I pay this scam. But yet, how can they report me if they don't have my ss number? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sent letter saying we owe $1,989.37. We Never ordered anything from this company. After a few phone calls we were told someone tried to gift a laptop to send to another part of the state. After getting the run around, I requested to speak to a supervisor. After being asked why several times, I was hung up on

The letter thanks us for our 'recent order'. It doesn't say what we purchased. Then it says if you did not place this order, call (608) 324-4088.

They say they will be happy to process the order immediately if we confirm by sending them a check or money order. And they even provide a 'payment form' attached for us to enter credit card information.

People - WHO DOES BUSINESS THIS WAY? Who sends a letter via snail mail confirming an order? Only scammers! This is not how any company in the world does business! If we want something we order it online or go and pick it up in person.

This is all you have to know. I'm not saying amount owed in our letter as this could easily be a tracking device. See other comment from person who called and now they won't leave them alone. By calling them, you're confirming that they have a 'good address'. Don't call them. But please report it here!

Someone, FBI, CIA, or police in Monroe Wisconsin, please go to this address and put these people in jail!

I'd include a photo of our letter, but again, it shows amount they'd like to take from us and we're just not that stupid. Pathetic scammers - go get a job and earn some honest money!

Oh, it's signed 'The Credit Department'.

Received a letter thanking me for my 'order' today (Feb. 2020). Gave number to call if order is incorrect. No way. This company went bankrupt years and years ago.

The letter also says I can send check, money order or send credit card number using the payment form below (really?). This is a cheap, cheap attempt to scam people.

Don't call the number - see message above this. If they hear from you, they will keep bothering you. How can we get these scammers in jail?

Phone number provided is (608) 324-4088. I would happily attach letter, but they're probably tracking us by checking the amount 'owed' on our letter. Mine is over $1,000.

Don't fall for any of this. Pathetic scammers. They included a return envelope (not postage paid).

I got an "Order Acknowledgement" from them today, for a 50in 4K UHD Smart TV (no brand name listed) that I never ordered for $699.99 plus $117.99 shipping! It notes: "Ship to Arrive By: As Soon As Possible" And if you call their customer service number, it sounds choppy and off.

This whole thing is fraudulent and a scam.

SCAM SCAM Received a letter stating "thank you for a recent order" and if I didn't place this order to call, but if I did place the order send a check or send in form with credit card information. This just felt like a scam. I called the number on the letter (608) 324-4088.

About a year ago my wife received invoices for a Play Station which was delivered to an address in Maryland. We live in Illinois. We never ordered anything from Montgomery Ward. The real company did go bankrupt many years ago and we did call the phone number attached in Wisconsin to tell them that they are mistaken. It turns out that they did not have out phone number nor my wife's social security number. If we would have an account with them, they would have that. They insisted that we give them this info on the phone, which we did not. After a while we did get several more invoices of the same kind. Surprising, even after a year, there where no late fees on the bill and the paper looked like out of a laser printer from and was poorly designed.

We went to the police and they told us to just disregard it .

Now, after over one year of bi-weekly letters, my wife got a letter from a collection company. They have no real info about my wife and the charges are not defined. They try now to call and ask for her social security number. It is quite annoying, but other than finding a lawyer there is no way to stop them.

We will just keep on ignoring them.

It is a shame that such firms are not given the legal consequences they deserve.

Very frustrating.

- Williamston, MI, USA

I have received in the past two weeks three requests for more information from Montgomery Ward regarding an order that I have placed. Three separate orders, dated 2/10/17, 220/17 and 2/22/17 all for Play Station 4 units, all with shipping addresses to two individuals that live in the Detroit area that I have no association with. Each of these orders have been able to be accessed online through www.wards.com and I have been able to cancel the orders that are attached to my name and address.

A police report is in the processs of being filed and charges of fraud and identity theft will be pursued against the two individuals from Detroit, MI as well as Montgomery Wards for being complicit in issuing the invoices. The three orders total over $3,267.72.
