I wanted to purchase a lap dog/Morkie breed. I found the website that looked legit so I sent information to be contacted by email. The quickly replied and agreed to sell me the do for 650.00 and ship it from TN to CA. The final price was 770.00. I paid them through VENMO but the person’s name was not the same of the person from the email. They did ask me NOT the hit the purchase button since it would take 3 days for them to receive the money. The transaction was completed on my end but then I started getting text message that the payment wasn’t received. They asked me to send the money again through a different form of payment (Zelle). They tried to convince me that the Venmo transaction would automatically cancel since I had insufficient funds in my VENMO balance. I told them that the money would be taken from my bank acct. The kept trying to get me to send an additional payment but I didn’t. They were also giving other names and email address for the Zelle accounts. The following day they contacted me again saying the payment didn’t go through and to try sending them 770.00 again. I convinced her to wait a day and she agreed. At that pointed I called Venmo customer service and they did the best to help. They confirmed that my payment was received by the seller. Customer service asked me to contact the seller and I sent them a text message. The seller said they too were on the phone with Venmo customer service. My agent told me to ask for the reference number ticket of the agent they spoke too. I asked for a screenshot from Venmo showing the payment was pending but she didn’t. Miraculously the seller replies they received the payment and that my Venmo account had an issue. I asked for a screenshot of the confirmed transaction from Venmo if it had gone through. Still no screenshot was sent. At this point I knew i was scammed but the seller said they would send me the puppy. The seller sent pictures of a dog crate on a counter but no dog was visible. I asked for a picture of the dog in the crate and they gave an excuse that they couldn’t. She sent a picture of the shipping information and that I would be sent an email with instructions and would get a call from the shipping company. I did get a call from the company (Indian accent) I coudn’t understand what he was saying only that he wanted me to open and read the email and call him back to complete the process. The email said that I would have to pay 1,499.00 for the crate rental fee. No credit card can be used and only excepting payable app (google pay, Venmo, Zelle, etc.) I called the shipping company and I told them NO, I would not pay the crate rental fee (1,499.00) even if they would refund 98% of the rental fee (1,460.00) when returning the crate. The guy tried to get me to agree to the rental fee. I told him I would contact the seller. I called the number (731)327-9027 and a man answered with an Indian accent. His “wife” was not present but that he would help me. I told him to keep his dog and refund me my money. They said the would but all day we texted back and forth. I requested my refund and they kept having “issues” with Venmo and couldn’t refund me the money. I tried calling the number but it was out of service. I sent a text message and I got no reply. The “wife” texted me from another number (432)389-1433 telling me to call Venmo and dispute the transaction. I told her all she needed to do was Venmo me my money back. She became fisty when i demanded my money. I called the number she texted me from and he went straight to a message saying “to say my name and google voice would try to connect me.” The number showed Kingsport, TN. I told them they were a scam and I would be contacting the BBB.
