The email claimed I owe money. When I called the number they were rude, yelling at me to give them information

Sent me a automated renewal statement for malware with all my personal information

On September 15, 2022, I received an email that told me that Norton LifeLock would be auto-renewed, and I would be charged $349.99 unless I called a phone number within 24 hours. For me, that is a lot of money, but I have started getting such emails on a regular basis. As usual, I was startled and somewhat dismayed, but I have developed a method for ferreting out who the email is from. I checked this solicitation, and found that the originating email was a gmail address, so I knew it was a phony. Another clue is that the body of the email is an image. In a legitimate email, you should be able to select text for copy and pasting. With this email, though, the entire image is selected, and the text is embedded in the image.

Unfortunately, with this email, I was only one of who knows how many others were sent this message. When I looked at the mailing information, it was BCC'd to me, along with undisclosed recipients. The third and last clue is that the sender of the email was listed as an individual, while a legitimate email would have originated from "Support" or "Billing" or some such thing. My conclusion, be careful about reacting to alarming emails! And if you get one, be sure to report it to the ScamPulse.com Scam Tracker. It only takes a few minutes.

This group wants to take over your computer and then, I assume they want you to pay to get rid of their takeover. I get these emails a couple of times a month. They call me and when I don't cooperate, they cuss.

I received an email stating I purchased the Norton Lifelock Platinum Plus for $299. They said I could cancel within 24 hours and they provided two phone numbers. I called the number to cancel. I called the 888 number and no one answered. I called the 810 number and the person cussed at me and hung up on me.

Received this email, which I never asked or even inquired.

Dear <redacted>,

Congratulations! Your subscription with Norton Lifelock is now auto renewed as per you selected plan.

You can now continue enjoying our services smoothly.

These people took my money and when bt refund it back they did twice I called they just hung up in my face

They sent an email saying money was getting taken out my amount. I called because I know I never set an account up with these people. The man had me download a app to cancel the payment. As I’m reading the fine print it said be careful with clicking yess? Because this will give them access to your bank account information. I then looked up the number they had me call and it wasn’t the sander number as Lifelock.

Received an invoice for Norton Deluxe for $399.00. Called to cancel but line kept disconnecting. Few days later finally got a man on the line who said was with Microsoft not Norton and didn't know what I was talking about. In speaking with him this sounded fishy. He ended call. Called back and he said he was too busy to help me, asked that I call back. Immediately filed my complaint with the powers that be.

Just in case watching account closely.

I got a text indicating I would be charged for Norton Lifelock. I called 804-408-7227 and spoke to Ryan. He said his badge number N197 He said I subscribed to Norton Lifelock for a 3 year pln invoice NTR03556 for $229. He wanted me to give him remote control of my computer. He had me go to Norton67.webnode.com to complete a Better Business Bureau refund form. He wanted my bank account to give me a refund. He kept repeating my credit card account would be charged, and that he had called from a secure line from Norton and he was just doing his job. He said I wasn't listening to him. He said he was real because he hadn't asked for any personal information. I was upset because he wouldn't shut up, so I hung up. He had a heavy accent. I asked where he was from. He said California.

Consumer received an email with embedded images implying it was from Norton LIfelock's Support Team. It encourages the consumer to call 844-647-4483 to speak with their billing officer about paying an invoice. In this particular situation, the consumer is not a customer of Norton and did not fall for the attempted Identify Theft scheme. Communication also displayed ScamPulse.com Trademarks without authorization.

A foreigner answered and asked me for information when I asked for cancellation. He asked me to bring up my internet and put in techcare.me so that he could send me a cancellation form, then got very angry when I asked him just to send form by my e-mail. I hung up after I realized that this was incorrect. I have been trying to reach Norton for information and cannot get through. They asked for my last 4 digits of SSN, year of birth, and last name. They said that I had no account and placed me on an extended hold, never coming back. I received a call from the number 715-705-1109 asking why I hung up. The call was listed as Chippewa Falls, WI. Calls come in several times of the day from numbers that do not exist for Medicare and Car Repairs Insurance. All seem scam. All are from VPN numbers that cannot seem to be traced.

Got an email today from "Norton" wanted to charge my debit card for $499.99 for a 5 year Norton subscription. The email was actually from [email protected] - the billing phone number is 561-409-5317 - says they're out of Santa Monica.

Thank you - Cathie Moscato

September 17, 2020 received email(attached ) which stated that $349 was charged to my acciunt/card. Not having ordered Norton Lifelock I called the given helpline (443)-267-1175 toreverse/preclide the charge. Not have any luck reaching the number 3 times, I succeeded in talking to a lady on the 4th attempt. I was told that the charge was to my master card but for security reasons she could not give me the account number; further, the only way to not be charged was to fill out a form which she would send. She said she would send a confirming email that I would not charged. Having been victum to such a scam before and not being at my computer's location, she hung up. The next day I received a similar email except that the amount was $499 and a different helpline number (701)-369-2948 which I did not call.

I received an e-mail through my husbands e-mail account regarding a membership purchase of $649.20. I made no such purchase. Called the number given to complain. Was told it was only $329.00 as a reduction. I wanted to know what card they had made unauthorized purchase, would not tell me. I was told that if I wanted a refund I would need to complete a refund form. Told them I would not give them any information since they were not giving me any. Hung up on me, called them again, hung up on me a second time. I contacted the real Norton Life Lock Security. They did not have an account for either myself or my husband. Be careful!
