It was one of those "Hello? Sorry my headset isn't working...(something about a resort)...Can we transfer you to a representative?" scams that will record your voice saying "Yes" to use for unauthorized charges on your credit cards/bank accounts/phone bill. Third one this month, all different numbers. When I try to call back it is automated and says something like "This survey has ended."

- Littleton, CO, USA

The caller said she was from Customer Service (or some department). She did not provide the company's name. She asked if I could hear her ... for some (dumb) reason, I said yes. She went on about the Orlando / Disney vacation I'd won. I said I wasn't interested. She said I still had a credit -- was I over 28 and did I have a credit or debit card? I said, "yes" then realized what was going on and hung up.

Received a call on my cell phone. The person said "Hello, this is Emily from Customer Service, can you hear me okay". I was caught off guard and answered "Yes" and then immediately said "No" and hung up. There was no company identified.

I've received this exact recorded call twice now from two different phone numbers with a 951 area code. The call initially seems to be a telemarketer having trouble with her phone, when she asks if I can hear her. I hung up this time.

- Parker, CO, USA

I received a robocall that seemed to initially be a person. The person asked if I could hear her and I replied "yes." I hung up soon after, when I realized it was a robocall. I saw later on Facebook that this was a scam and wanted to report it. I called the number back and it continuously tells me the phone line is busy, but it is not a standard busy tone.

The phone number called and asked if I could hear them ok. I responded with Yes and then quickly realized what had just occurred an hung up.

Telephone call: "Can you hear me?"

- Denver, CO, USA

I received a phone call a few moments ago that seems to be a automated voice system, which had interrupted a nap.

Barely waking up I didn't react correctly when asked "can you hear me okay?". So I responded yes (not fully comprehending what this call could be). It then said, "you have been pre-selected..." I then realized what had just happened and hung up immediately.

A woman said she was with the warranty dept and asked "Can you hear me?"

The caller called our main business phone number and said, "Hi! This is [Name] with customer service. Can you hear me ok?" I immediately hung up.

They called and asked if this was xxx (my first name). I said yes and they hung up.

I'm writing this email as documentation of a strange call I received from a telemarketer.

After hanging up I remembered about a popular scam where the caller gets you to say "yes" so that they have a voice recording of you saying yes so that they can then cause harm by claiming that you authorized whatever they want to say you said yes to.

At 7:46 I received a call from (303) 759-3790 as shown in the screen shot below. The caller started the call by saying that she was having difficulty with her headset, and asked if I could hear her. I said "yes". She then presented me with a highly discounted travel package to Orlando and South Florida. After approximately 30 seconds of the spiel, she asked if I was interested. I began to say "No, we have a baby...." but before I could finish she hung up.

Remembering that there were warnings about this scam on social media and the news I immediately called the number back to get some more information. The number simply said that "The survey you are calling about is now over" and ended the call.

I'm now worried the caller simply wanted to get my voice saying yes so they can scam me.

My husband Mark was with me and witnessed the call.

At no point did I say yes to any offers.

I answer hello. She says she has Trouble with headset. Then tells about a fantastic vacation for free. Then asks if they can ask a few questions before turning over to a booking agent. I hung up after telling them I knew it was a scam.

Can you hear me? My headset wasn't working. You've recently started at one of our hotels...

- Denver, CO, USA

My phone rang I answered, said hello. The caller said Hi, this is Josh, Can you hear me ok? I immediately disconnected the call.

Called and took a while to say anything, then asked if I could hear her. I replied yes then she said she was calling because I had stayed at one of their resorts. I said I wasn't interested and hung up.

Call received on cell phone. Female voice first said she was having problem with her headset and went into a spiel about my previously staying at one of their resorts and that I had won a vacation stay at another resort. At that time I hung up.
