I Received a letter in the mail with my name and address on it claiming to be a " Student loan consolidation and payment reduction program " the letter had a few common grammar errors which sealed the deal for me it being a potential scam I tried to go to the website listed in the letter and nothing came up.... I then googled the letter as well and noticed google gave me an error message as well. thankfully I did not contact them nor give them any information.

Got this letter in the mail and reached out to the phone number on the letter 866-220-6181. Spoke with "Charles."

Charles said I could pay three $300 payments to consolidate my student loans. He knew a lot of info about my current student loans. He said I would owe $11,000 total once my loans are consolidated, instead of what I currently actually owe. Once my three $300 payments were out of the way I would have $49/mo payments going forward.

The payments were supposed to be on 9/22, 10/6, and 10/20. Then I would pay $49/mo starting 11/03.

Charles gave me his direct line phone number as 702-508-9527.

Got letter in the mail and it looks like a scam

I received a very official looking letter as if from the Department of Education concerning student loan repayment. It had a website to create an FSA ID with a phone number. First clue something was up, the website didn't work. Yet, because it was from the government this didn't immediately tip me off. I get letters with instructions on websites all the time with instructions that don't work for links on pages that don't exist. I digress. So I confirmed I had an FSA ID set up by going to the actual studentaide.gov website. I then called the number I had listed on here and talked to the guy. The only information he asked for was a "Reference Benefit ID:" that was on the letter that was sent to me. He got to a point where he said he had to get approval and had to put me on hold for a couple minutes but, when he said that he said something about up front fees and my spidey senses clicked. I did a quick search for scammers and what information I had available from this letter and found this initial complaint for this number and I hung up the phone. While trying to call the Department of Education to confirm any information about this program he tried to call me back. The caller ID information said: "STUDENT DEPT 702 508 9809" and came up from Nevada.

Superior services appeared as if they were the go between for the SAVE program for student loan forgiveness. Deposit went to an unrecognized web address and was not identified by personal bank.
