Sergeant Gibson, with the Pitkin County (Colorado) Sheriff's office Civil Processes, left a voicemail on my personal cell number requesting a call back to discuss "a legal matter." I called back and spoke initially with him, and then with another man, who identified himself as Lieutenant James Root, badge #196. He explained there are bench warrants out and I missed a court date for jury dury and now I owe two fines of 2500$ each. These were both lowered to $750.00, aka "federal posting." I was given the finance officer's name: Desire Everhart, badge#9909, and federal posting ID# 470314. I was to put in Desire Everhart - add her as a payee, send $750 and in the note put: 4703149909. (that looks like a phone number to me, and the area code 470 would be in Atlanta - which is physically near my current location). They urge you to pay in order to be able to get before the judge that day. The judge today was the Honorable Ashley R. Andrews, who was ready to be connected via Zoom, which they preferred to do via cell as opposed to on the computer.

Luckily, Ally Bank intercepted and I ended up speaking with an incredibly helpful person there who stopped this in its tracks and helped me stop the frenzied activity to assess the actual situation.

It is appalling that these men are posing as civil servants.
