They are now getting a hold of people on Facebook and telling them too download the Telegram App so they can do the interview that way I’m not going through with it…thank god I found this first

The person emailed with a job opportunity with SITEL group. They asked for an interview on google hangouts over CHAT! then they sent a check of $2560 from scotia bank and asked me to deposit to buy work equipment. The check is on hold now, and they told me to send funds to the “vendor”. In the meantime I’ve to buy $200 iTunes card. Then they will give more instructions

The same thing happened to me right now. When they asked about the bank I deal with to check if they can set direct deposit that rang the bell. I told them that I am not comfortable providing that information at this point and went straight to google to check this whole telegram interview thing. I am glad I did. I have also checked the email address and it is a gmail address.

Well that was an eventful day... I seen a link on my craft pages saying this company was hiring data entry to work from home. So I said sure why not.. later I heard it was a scam, I'm thinking, the company sitel is real and the website their messaging from is legit, their not asking for money, how is it a scam? So I continue with the process and they state I'm hired and they'll send me the computer and info to get started. I say ok. Than comes the fun part... they asked for my Facebook name and password(because that's what I'll be using to contact the supervisor?), and after the company installs their stuff than I can change my password.. I say, I don't have a Facebook I'll have to create one. They state they don't use new Facebook accounts. So I said I'm sorry I don't have one.. they come back with a screen shot of my conversation on my messenger asking "whose this?" I said mine but I'm not active on Facebook. And than I said, I'm getting informed that this is a scam, how do I know its not.. they avoided the question. And look at images to see how that ended ????

Thank you all for taking out time and sharing your experience. I was interviewed today via telegram and was told same stuff like everyone. Just after I got over with an interview I got mixed feeling and felt something fishy so started browsing net and bumped into this post. Thanks a lot for sharing the opinions it saved me from being a victim. To the new readers please me ensured about one thing no company would ever ask you to purchase the equipment, if they are willing to pay then why not just provide the equipment to cut it short. This rang bell and I did through research, please don’t be a victim.

A company claiming to be Sitel Group emailed me to tell me to say that my C.V. letter was forwarded to them by LinkedIn. They emailed me from a Gmail email account and wanted to set up an interview over the Telegram app. This is the 2nd employment scam I've encountered in one week. I reached out to the real company and they forwarded me a link for a recent post they had written regarding similar job scams that were already reported to them (https://bit.ly/2P8vRSG).

Almost the exact same thing happened to me as to the others who told their stories here. I applied for data entry and customer service jobs on snagajob.com, which I think does not properly vet the employers listing on there. I received a response from someone who claimed to be with the Hiring Department of the Sitel Group. He was NOT with the Sitel Group, just to be clear. This was a case of impersonation and bank fraud and has nothing to do with the actual Sitel Group, which I would actually like to work for! I went through the whole online job interview on Google Hangouts which took about a half-hour. They were all legitimate questions that would be asked in an interview. I was told that I needed to order equipment but that it would all be financially covered by the company. They sent me a check which I waited to clear, and then I was told to send money via Zelle to their "vendor". Then I was told that the equipment needed a software update and that was going to cost more. I was sent another bad check which my bank cleared after a holiday weekend last year. Once again, I was asked to send another payment to a vendor for the software update. Thus far, his response time and online demeanor were very professional. The last time I was told that there was an unexpected additional cost, I was asked if I could go to a Walmart or a CVS to get a pre-paid Apple Card. I told the man that this was not an option and could we do a check and a Zelle payment as before. He said the vendor INSISTED to be paid with an Apple card. At this point, it was seeming more and more as though the job was not real, and I happened to look up "iTunes card frauds", and apparently it's a real problem. Instead of payment, people ask for these Apple cards instead, then they pass around the number and it gets used multiple times for purchases before it gets flagged by the Apple payment processors. Anyway, long story short, they were able to fraudulently get over $2,000 from me and my bank told me it was my fault. It was discharged in the end because I told my bank that I had waited for them to clear the checks before I made payments with the money that I thought was available and that it was their responsibility to suss out bad checks, not mine. I merely said that I do not consent to the cost liability of that kind of check fraud. I don't use that bank anymore. What can you do? That is the most important lesson of these stories. Pay attention to the email associated with the alleged hiring party. If it is not an official-sounding email, it probably isn't a real job or a real person. Don't do remote interviews on Google Hangouts. Talk to an actual person, even if it's Zoom or Skype. Google Hangouts is very hard to trace the location of the people who are on there which is why these criminals use it. If a company tells you to buy the equipment, don't. The real company would just send it to you once they hired you with zero involvement on your part in terms of obtaining the equipment. These are desperate times for many people, so keep your eyes peeled and oxygen flowing to your brain, and don't let people fool you because you need a job that badly. I hope this helps someone out there!

Could you please tell how did you end up losing $2000? What if I were to cancel that check now and let my bank know.

Upon getting in contact with Mr. Thomas the company HR Manager he told me that he will be sending me a check to my email, all I was to do is print it out and deposit it into my checking account using my mobile app. They sent me a check that was for $1,850. After the check was deposited he told me I had to cash app the funds to a vendor name Cheryl Garcia. This is where things fell apart, the cash app wouldn't allow me to send the money and ultimately the checks bounced. It is all a scam and they get very angry in the process.

Wow, the exact thing happened to me. His "name" was Jerry Brogdon and he completed an interview immediately. The checks were not able to be deposited so they asked if they can do it as me instead and that I can change my log in once they were done. That's when I knew something wasn't right and sent them on their merry way. Very sad to see companies scam innocent people who are trying to make a decent living. NEVER send personal info to these people!

Like the ones before me I am looking for a job. I found a job on Snagajob.com, was contacted today from someone name John Clarkson offering me a job. I needed to contact him via Google Hangout and after going through the interview I started to get suspicious of the whole thing. If you are going to buy my equipment, why don't you send it to me, why send me a check to cash and buy myself. I found this site and now getting ready to contact Snagajob.com and tell them they have fraudulent jobs listed on their site.

I just had "John Clarkson" email me as well, telling me to download something called Telegram so we could conduct an interview. It felt fishy so I'm glad I found this because you've proved my instinct right. I had also applied to the job through snagajob. On there it had listed the company name as Amazon but John Clarkson says he is from Sitel Group, which is a legitimate company but he obviously is a scammer.

Chief Human Resources Officer contacted me via email and then we communicated via Google Hangout. They offered me a work from home position and said they would send me a check so I may purchase the required equipment from the company they work with. They sent via FedEx an overnight check in the amount of $3,500.00. I had to send them a copy of the check when I received it so the funds could be released and then a copy of the deposit slip confirming it was deposited. The check was returned to the bank so they asked me to download Cash App. After I completed the steps as requested they asked for me to send them the log in code so the accounting department could verify information. I refused to give them this information and have not heard from them since.

I was looking for a new job online and came across 3 data entry positions on snagajob.com, I applied to all 3 of them.Then, 2 days later I receive 3 e-mails all in regards from the same company that was interested in hiring me (Sitel group) which is a real company they were disguised as, but none of them pertained to the companies I had recently applied to. Regardless, I then proceeded and replied to the e-mails stating I was interested in the interview, and all of a sudden I find myself doing an interview through google hangouts messaging. Fast forward, they ask me 10 questions to respond to which seemed like legitimate questions an interviewer would ask someone. Next thing you know they tell me that I'm fit for the position, "you're hired." They then proceed to tell me about the job and how I'm going to need new equipment because of the software I need won't work on my personal computer. I was then explained that any expenses would be paid for via a check they would send me through the mail. I receive the check 2 days later, deposit the check and call it a day. The following day, I receive a message from the supposed hiring manager stating that in order for me to get my data reader and time tracker I will need to send $500 for the equipment and $200 for the next day shipping to the company vendor through Zelle and as soon as they had the tracking number they will send it to me. So I sent the money via Zelle to the account and I wait till the next morning expecting my equipment to be at my door, and when it still hadn't arrived I realized there was something wrong, I let the person know what they're doing is extremely sketchy and they then ask me to go to my local CVS or Walgreens and buy a $100 gift card. That's where I cut the conversation

I was contacted through email that my resume was approved online by a private company named Sitel Group. The company is not at fault here however, the scammer was using the company's name to appear legitimate. They contacted me and told me to message someone by the name of Michille Cyrus on google hangouts. I was given a "certification code" and told to message this person ASAP. After messaging this person, they proceeded to conduct an online "interview" with the intentions to learn my name and address to send me an illegal check. I was "hired" by this company and was given a position, a time to start and a weekly salary. Then I was asked what bank I use so that they can "check" their companies records to see if it aligns with their payment lists. After that, they then told me that they will send me a check for the equipment I was going to be using for the job. I received the check a few days later and it was clear that this was a scam. The check had no indication that the company had written or sent it. It was under a random law firms name. It also came with a note telling me to text a number to be "authorized" in order to deposit the check. I never deposited the check after realizing that it wasn't their money nor was it my money.

A check was sent via FED EX check has DEEJAI Thai Restaurant 613 Providence RD Ste 103 Charlotte, NC 28207-1901 in the amount of $ 2500.00 sent to me to purchase my start up equipment. Mr. Lake would not provide any type of telephone number he only communicated thru the chat google hangout.

The company was advertising a job for customer service and data entry and I'm in need a job urgently so after speaking with a lady and reading about the company it seemed legit and come to find out they been trying to scam me the whole time. He hacked my facebook account and used a lock out codes so that I couldn't get back in my account this is just so horrible but I need help. He used the name Jerry Brogdon.

I was told about this job it sounded amazing they asked for my facebook log in info I gave it not thinking and they asked for a picture id I took one I was assured yesterday that there was no cost for any part of this. Today after changing my primary email and password to my facebook which is under investigation for Domestic Violence and stalking (I'm the victim of) I asked for them to. Change it back and said it's the "database" and now the person is getting rude dont do it they are hackers/scammers
