Claimed Social Security number issue. Number to be suspended if you don't call the number...

5 calls in one day...

- Glandorf, OH, USA

I received a phone call stating that I had a problem with my social security and I needed to call (if I remembered the number correctly) - 618-248-8330 to talk with someone to clear up the issue. The person was not very convincing on that it was a "legit" issue. I did not call the number.

Did not respond to this. SSI would not call me with this recorded response

- Peoria, IL, USA

This fradulent number calls me & the recording says there is a warrant out for my arrest for fraudulent behavior and that there is a federal database that they are referring to in regards to my Social Security number. Then, they say press one for a poll taker and then I do so and they hang up on me. They called me a few minutes prior to this from a different number doing the same thing!! So, obviously they are trying to scare people to to no end. I am not falling for it.I realize I do not have to answer these numbers to listen to this crap. But, that is not my point here. My point is that they could actually scare elderly etc. and my other point is this applies to me because I’m trying to figure out how they got my number. I would like to know how they got my number So that I can cancel whatever I have signed up for regarding how they got my number.

- Indianapolis, IN, USA

The man started off saying their was 3 other people using my social number. Told me there is also several credit cards under it, there has been a car found on the side of the road with drugs & blood. It was traced back to a home were they found the credit cards, then said looks like bank accounts also. They are calling this drug trafficking so we will have to supsend your old number and will send you a new one in 48hrs. He advised me in order to take care of this, if I have any accounts too take it out and to place it on cards. So they won't mistake it as drug money. Give them the numbers and the funds will be returned in 48hrs. Said he will transfer me too Officer David Budd to take care of the warrant. Once it was done, I had to put it on 4 different prepaid cards 2 $500 and 2 $350. He then stated because I am an Officer this call is monitored. I am on a Fixed Income & Have Lupus I just can't take this loss, please please help me.

I was first called by these people and they asked for my social and when i refused to give it to them and told them i thought they were a scam I was cussed out. The second time they called I asked for manager and was told I did not need a manager because I was going to jail The third time I asked them to quit calling me at work and was told that he would call me all night if he wanted. they have now called my cell that i use for work every hour. I continue to block the numbers and refuse to answer the calls at this point but this is harassment at this point. I need help and changing my cell is not an option as this is my work contact as well.

- Wallingford, KY, USA

These people have called me three times today and asked for my social # to verify who i was and threatened me being arrested and locking down my social security. I asked them to not call me at work and the one man said FINE i will call you all night. I was also told I didnt understand what they could do to me. When I asked them why they needed my info since they called me I was told not to be stupid.

- Punta Gorda, FL, USA

They call from above number (we screen our calls and do not answer) and leave a message to the effect that our social security number has been compromised and we need to call their number to remedy the problem. Of course, there is NO problem and they are merely phishing for personal information. We completely ignore ANY call from 'Social Security' as the real organization will never initiate contact with you via phone or test message.

- Pensacola, FL, USA

I received a telephone call from a person claiming to be from Social Security fraud division.

- San Angelo, TX, USA

- Bradenton, FL, USA

I received a phone call from a Temple, Texas phone number. It was a recorded message telling me that there was fraudulent activity with my social security number and I needed to call them back in order to resolve the situation.

- Wichita, KS, USA

Received a call from Social Security Administration stating that my social security number has been compromised and I needed to call back 425-689-0316. I did not call back the number.

- Pensacola, FL, USA

They called me on 10.30.2019 at 5:29pm CST, I called back because they did not leave a message (at 5:30pm CST) I was on the phone for 4:16 minutes - they kept asking me questions regarding my DOB & SSN - I did not provide any information to them, then they called back at 5:35pm CST 2 times.

I know better than to provide any information to anyone over the phone, plus IRS, any federal/government agency does NOT call on the phone - they send via US Mail.

I called Pensacola Sheriff's department and spoke with Shalonda at dispatch at 850.436.9620, and she provided me your information to call Scam Tracker to report this plus when I called today (because you were closed) I was directed to go to this website.

If you need to speak to me, I will be more than happy to provide more information if needed at 850.619.1732.

Thank you in advance.

I called them to tell them to quit calling me and that I knew this is a scam. I told them I am reporting them to the FBI and FTC. Agent Max hung up on me. He had a thick accent

call and say your social security has legal action against it. Please call the phone number above with your social security number and your driver's license number. They answer "Social Security Administration". When you tell them they are a fraud they call you mother-[censored], or [censored] You.

- Attleboro, MA, USA

caller was calling robotic-ally to inform me that my social security number is being used or that I am a victim of fraud. when calling back they said yes, to all that i mentioned ...then when i told them this call is being recorded as well...the line was dropped.

I gave my name at first , cause i was nervous about someone stealing my social security and how it was obtained. however, it is not a legitimate caller and thanks to you ...I now know its a scam..I wish that something could be done about this...I know , i will pay the app price for Robo Killer to sort out such scammers. that for me, is a start at this terrible thing that is being done to millions of consumers

I received a phone call that I was unable to answer so they left a voice mail. The voice inform me to contact them before legal proceeding would start. I call the number back and it was a Texas number. A guy with a heavy Indian accent answered as the Social Security Admin office and ask my name and if I had been contacted by local law enforcement? I told him I had never been contacted and did not know what he was talking about. He put me on hold and come back and ask for my social security number. I stopped him there and told him that if he was with the Social Security admin he could tell it to me. He hung up on me. I called back and another similar person answered the phone as the Social Security admin and then I hung up on them. Be aware...SCAM
