Upon scoping it out, there seems to be very little marketing involved at all, and the majority of the duties include face-to-face sales. The office is located near Atlantic Station, and both the CEO and recruiter implied that events would take place there. Instead, I received a brief training 1:1 training with the recruiter (in a small room containing about 15 other people) and was driven 20 miles south to Morrow with no way of walking out. The paperwork was all digital and completed rather informally.
I was hired as an independent contractor and not an employee, which was not explicitly mentioned before I arrived on-site. The recruiter (who I thought was HR) ended up being my “supervisor/manager” and recruited me beneath themself in order to receive 40% of their team’s sales. I was offered $500 per week base pay, but didn’t learn until I got there it was for a 6-day workweek (no overtime) plus “bonuses,” which turned out to be commissions on signing people up for government phones. I signed the agreement initially with the intention of gathering more information throughout the day and terminating after.
To my knowledge, any breaks are at the discretion of the "manager" which is just whoever recruited you for their team. I was technically offered one, but I didn't much feel like traversing the empty strip mall we were parked outside of and walking a quarter mile to Burger King.
They claim to work with AT&T, Hello Fresh, and other services in the healthcare or telecom sectors. The phones distributed were through Assurance Wireless, and the pitch included asking the customer for their ID to see if they qualify. The participants who didn't qualify through government benefits were asked to submit a W2, birth certificate, etc.
This organization goes by many names and frequently rebrands with new web pages that look like legitimate startups. It's almost impossible to track them, so I researched posts about Atlanta MLMs and found numerous thread on reddit that described my experience verbatim, but under a different name. So far I have confirmed The Cause, The Cause Collective, The Collective, Rogue ATL, and Aura ATL. I think they pitch different roles based on the resumes they find and link the site that best fits, as they never sent a link to the job description I allegedly applied for.
I only spent one day there, which lasted from 8:30am to around 6:30pm. I was then invited to follow the team down the street for drinks, which I declined. I did not receive a response to my resignation.
