I absent mindedly said 'yes' when the caller had difficulty hearing me, he hung up after hearing me say 'yes'.

Consumer advises that they received 12 calls from the company and they just get dead air in the messages.

- College Station, TX, USA

Without naming a business, a recording states to call back or legal proceedings will take place

I received a call as well as my step mom saying that their was claim filed against me and that it was through Santa Clars County. She had a very strange accent and kept saying that she was calling on behalf of her client but never said who the client was. She even gave me a case number. The return number was an 855 area code but the number she called from was 408 when she called me in San Jose but when she called my step mom in Texas it was from a 512 area code.

My wife received this postcard in the mail.

- North Branford, CT, USA

Left a voicemail threatening to begin legal proceedings. Do not know ID as the voicemail recording starts mid-sentence. Instructs to call back twice.

I'm just texting with them now.

One of several emails from this same scammer using my own personal email for both sent from and reply to. Of course I never sent anything nor ever used any of the sites indicated I was using. Contents are as follows:

Hello!

As you may have noticed, I sent you an email from your account.

This means that I have full access to your account.

I've been watching you for a few months now.

The fact is that you were infected with malware through an adult site that you visited.

If you are not familiar with this, I will explain.

Trojan Virus gives me full access and control over a computer or other device.

This means that I can see everything on your screen, turn on the camera and microphone, but you do not know about it.

I also have access to all your contacts and all your correspondence.

Why your antivirus did not detect malware?

Answer: My malware uses the driver, I update its signatures every 4 hours so that your antivirus is silent.

I made a video showing how you satisfy yourself in the left half of the screen, and in the right half you see the video that you watched.

With one click of the mouse, I can send this video to all your emails and contacts on social networks.

I can also post access to all your e-mail correspondence and messengers that you use.

If you want to prevent this,

transfer the amount of $727 to my bitcoin address (if you do not know how to do this, write to Google: "Buy Bitcoin").

My bitcoin address (BTC Wallet) is: 11wQFVQ65DdfzWXqup3JdY7prFazMbXjc

After receiving the payment, I will delete the video and you will never hear me again.

I give you 48 hours to pay.

I have a notice reading this letter, and the timer will work when you see this letter.

Filing a complaint somewhere does not make sense because this email cannot be tracked like my bitcoin address.

I do not make any mistakes.

If I find that you have shared this message with someone else, the video will be immediately distributed.

Best regards!

Multiple number have been calling me all week and recorded me saying yes and hung up

- Taylor, MI, USA

The number above deposit the amount of $481.00 into my chase checking and chase closed my accounts due to a fraud check that went into my account what can you do to help me Troy English

Received a phone call and the call went: Hello? Hello? Hello? Hello? Can you hear me? Yes. The call immediately disconnected.

After I realized it was an automated person, I was informed by a coworker that it is a type of scam going around.

- Denver, CO, USA

It said “hello?” “May I speak with someone over 18?”

Definitely a recording..thanks!

The scammer told me that I had "a computer virus ('alureon') and a lot of foreign addresses. He said that the problem with the virus began 7 days earlier, and that he was calling to warn me and offer their services to "clean it up." Then he pressured me to allow them to access my computer remotely using to take over my computer screen and show me the "aleureon virus and infected foreign viruses on my screen." I did allow them to show that because he said that I had had viruses on this computer in October of 2017 and that they {Rizontec] had cleaned it up at that time and I had purchased a1-year antivirus protection plan. He gave me my Rizontec customer #. (And that much is true, because I recalled that I had gotten a call about two years ago on the same type of scam, and unfortunately that time I did send bite on their scheme.] He again scrolled through a long list on my screen of "foreign adcresses that looked like computer programming to convince me that my computer was infected. Next he typed a list of the jobs that they would do to remove the infected files, etc., and then he added on the

Invoice/bill for their services. At that point I became anxious about the cost, sending them money, and revealing my password so they could "clean it up." When they dropped the price. "because You're a nice lady", and said that I "needed to go to Walmart right now, leave the computer running, and purchase an Apple Gift Card for $500.00," I immediately shut down my computer, changed my password, and called a local Tech support person, called Apple Support, and-activated my on-line accounts. They called me a total of 9 times, until I figured out how to "block caller" at the (i) symbol after the caller"s name and city. They spoke with heavy Eastern accents [like Pakistani], talked fast, spelled badly, used English names, but pronounced them wrong, wrote "500$". Buat I am afraid that I am on a call list. However they did not change their phone immediately. They were very persistent, but I believe there were only two of them, David and Kevin (pron. Kee-vin) The phone # showed up as a Lake Wales, FL number, but they were irritated when I asked about that, and they said "NO, They were in California!" as if that is more legitimate than FL.

Robocall telling me that fraud activity on my social security number has local officials being notified

- Rochester, MN, USA

Caller said "I have you on a list as NOT being interested in a walk-in bath or spa, is that correct?" I stupidly responded "That's correct", expecting a long spiel to follow. The caller immediately hung up, which made me realize that I had just given him an affirmative response that he recorded and could now use to scam me with phone orders, etc.

- Hopkins, MN, USA

Someone called with a telemarketer's tone of voice in a think Indian accent posing as a potential customer. The kinds of questions asked and the tone of voice were not typical of a legitimate customer inquiry. The call I received like this culminated in the man asking me to take his email address, "decision maker at ---" and he asked me to repeat it, which I did not because I was already wise to the scam by this point in the call. I hung up at that point, but may have been tricked into saying yes. The second time I got one of these calls about a week later I asked him some test questions, in case this was a different caller with a legitimate inquiry. His responses were not very far off yet still not fitting, even taking into consideration English as a second language. He seemed to be rushing through my inquiries to get me to say yes. The man said he would stop in at 4 p.m. just like the last call said, and he asked "Are you a salesperson?" and "Will you be open then?" trying to get a YES reply. He asked me to take his email and I said "that is not necessary" and I ended up hanging up on him. The call came from a blocked number.

Scammer appears to use a local number. Responding to that number by text saying that you're busy results in the apparent real owner of that number responding that they don't know why you have texted them.
