, who invited me to start a chat via Microsoft Teams using the following link:

The recruiter, identifying herself as “Emma,” conducted an interview entirely through chat and offered me a data entry position the same day at a rate of $35.00 per hour. She claimed the job was with AdhereTech, which is a legitimate company, but I now believe scammers were impersonating them.
After I was “hired,” I was told I would receive a $2,500 check to purchase work equipment from a designated vendor, and that I could keep $350 as part of the process. I was then sent a PDF file of a check and instructed to print it and deposit it into my bank account.
At that point, I recognized the situation as fraudulent. No legitimate employer would send a check in this manner or ask a new hire to purchase equipment using those funds.
