I called Bank of America, and a recorded message about winning a $100 voucher for shopping. I'd just signed up with a new credit card with them which wasn't working and was why I was calling in the first place, and that credit card had a lot of perks on it so I assumed it had to do with those perks. after pressing #1 a man with Indian accent answered and began asking me questions of my personal ID and credit card information to get me "registered" so when he asked me for the whole credit card number I did not want to give it and he offered that I could use an old credit card (weird) and after awhile of answering questions about my mailing address and age range and birth YEAR (I didn't want to give my whole DOB) and phone number etc., he put me on hold and began a weird connection of recordings asking me to input or say that same information again, but the recording was obviously a recording of a recording and he kept interrupting me to get the information correct which was also weird. I asked if this was a scam and he assured me that theh confirmation number at the end proved it was not a scam. I asked what number to call if I didn't receive the offered voucher in the mail in 2-3 days as he promised and he said call the same number again....which I did right after I hung up. When I listened more carefully the first recording says that this number might have been changed and then connects me to the "Special offer" with the voucher for $100. Also when he put me on hold at one point he told me that the advertisement in the background of the hold was NOT for me so to just ignore it. That I was " NOT PART OF THAT" SO WEIRD. and then repeated that several times. When I was supposed to get the confirmation number, that same Ad came on first with the same phone number.... the number and offer that was not for me was something about auto repair and roadside assistance and protection against ID theft with the number 1-866-256-5475 and 1-800-860-0003 and some other numbers I didn't get down. f or a trial of $28.87 for the first month and they would send a redemption fee. Several times he put me on a 30-40 sec hold.
