Person claims to have certified mechanic business. Went in for a checkup person lied about their identity and never fixed the car. Car ended up worse than when going in. Paid for the service and nothing was done for the car. Cannot file lawsuit against him because he is not registered anywhere as a taxpaying business but charged a tax fee I have lost more money missing work trying to find this person’s credentials also no one knows anything about this person. Gone to court 3 times paid 51 dollars to open case and $100 to serve these papers to no avail. My wife and I have missed work for each of these dates only to find no resolution

My husbandwent in for a routine checkup for our vehicle mechanic lied and said that our transmission was messed up. Charged us $1,727.87 dollars for a made up problem. Later when we recieved the car back our steering wheel no longer worked went to another mechanic and said that we were lied to our car no longer runs after paying for the service. We have tried to file a lawsuit but as it turns out the business and it’s so called owner are not registered qnd gave us a false name.

Pulled up next to me in the parking lot, said he worked at and auto body shop and could repair my dent in the back of my car. Gave me an estimate and said he could do it for $200 compared to $500-1000. Told me he just fixed someone else’s car. I asked if I could come to his shop later, he said he could do it now. I asked how I could pay and he said Zelle or Cash or Cash App or Venmo and suggested the ATM. I said I’ll do Venmo and he said don’t worry about it I’ll fix it now. He brought his tools out from the back of his car and started fixing it. I was concerned because it felt like he was hammering it so I looked up this scenario to see if it could be a scam. I saw a similar scenario and read that they could poke holes. I stepped out of the car and asked him to stop and that I was going to go. He reassured me that he was fixing it and it looked much better and did look like he was fixing it. Then I stood outside to continue checking and talking to him. He reassured me that this is what he does and that it often looks weird to others. He told me his wife and kids were in the car with him. He then showed me the wax that he used to make the scratches go away. He took before pictures but didn’t take any after photos. He told me he would give me his business cards so I could recommend him. I told him I’d pay through Venmo and he asked if I could do the ATM. I agreed and then brought him $200. He went to look for his business cards and turned around and said that he didn’t have any cards left and he must have given the last one away. He told me to look up Sunset Auto Body, and ask for Andrew. He said that his boss is Richard. While he was telling me this the woman in the front seat had turned her face away and it looked like she was embarrassed or trying to hide. I am upset that I fell for this and hope that my car is okay.
