I answered my phone and I said 'Hello." A woman's voice said, "Hello." There was a pause and I said "Hello" again. She said "Hello" and apologized for dropping her headset then asked if I could hear her. I don't remember if I responded "yes" before I realized something was strange about the call. I hung up and turned my cell phone off. I was completely caught off guard even though I heard about the scam before. I feel completely victimized not knowing if I gave the scammer my "yes" because it all happened so fast.

I received a call from somebody claiming that because I had stayed at one of their resorts (I have never stayed at any resort), I had won I trip somewhere...etc...they then asked me if I was between 18-65, I said I was 54...she then claimed she couldn't make out what I said, I repeated...i'm 54...3rd time she still claimed not to hear...I said i'm 54...she hung up...the reason I am bringing this to your attention is I believe that it is part of the same scam as the "can you hear me" scam...they are just coming up with new ways to attempt to get a "yes" response

They call you and say your name and then apologize that they didn't have their headset on correctly and ask, "can you hear me now" and not knowing who is calling and that it could be something or somebody important, you state YES. It appears to almost be a recorded voice. They try to get you to stay at their hotel.

They called and my husband didn't get the name of the company but they were selling an alert for seniors in their homes. They asked if he could hear them, and he answered yes. Unfortunately, he erased the phone number before I told him not to. However, we do know that the phone said it was coming from Little Valley, New York. I did have a call yesterday that I didn't answer that said it was from HVA, if that helps. We don't know if we've lost money yet, as this just happened this morning.
