I received a call from Carol from "Capital One" saying that I am eligible to lower my interest rate. I gave her my name and last four numbers of my social security number. I started wondering if the call was legit, so I called Capital One and they told me there were no offers going on at this time. I called the number for Carol and she began giving me the same spiel. I interrupted her and she asked why I was calling and I told her that I believed that it was a scam. She hung up on me. The real Capital One gave me the number at Experian to put a credit alert on my social security number.

"ACH trans Capital One ccp for 38.00. No other description. No ending numbers to trace to bank. Consumer caught it and took to bank. They said it was not Capital One. Bogus payment. Her bank stopped payment.

The woman, who was exceptionally rude, kept insisting I had to come into their offices to sign "important paper" for my business account with them. I do not have a business account with anyone, nor do I have an account with capitol one. If you call back the number they are calling from, you will be connected to the person's desk. She answers as "Capital One." Again, it IS NOT Capital One. Be warned!

I was called regarding a capital one credit card and the person on the other end of the phone needed me to say yes. I accidentally did and I am hoping this number is tracked down so that I don't lose any money.

- Gaithersburg, MD, USA

This sounds like the recent scam from Wells Fargo opening credit accounts for people that had not requested them. I received a statement for two Visa credit card accounts, one in my name and one in my wife's name. We had close these over four years ago when we closed our Capital One bank account. I called the customer service number on the Capital One website, which was different from the one on the statement, and was told the phone number and address were valid. I told them we did not want these credit card accounts and asked they be closed. I was instructed to contact the ScamPulse.com if I had not requested these accounts.

The person calling identifies herself as Linda from Capital One, they only request to speak to me if not the hung up. I called the number 1 800 555 6600 it takes you through choices and they offer a packages to the Bahamas and tickets for free, I hanged up. I guest the y use Capital one as a catch so people call them back.

I received a call from Capital One so I thought saying they wanted to lower my interest rate to 6.9%. The woman was of Arabic accent and named Melody. They had all my info my credit card #, my online banking #, my balance, my address. They told me they could lower my rate and I would continue to pay online but would pay an additional $222 4 times to pay the interest off, then I would just be left with the balance and no interest and all my payment would be to the principle. The number that called me was 216-487-7010
