Received a “final notice” about my car warranty. I called the number not thinking much of it because I do have a warranty and ended up providing the “representative” with all of my personal information. They were extremely professional and well-spoken, so I continued to think nothing of it. I got an email after the fact stating how much money I was going to be charged ($5709 total or $158.56 monthly) and then became suspicious. At this point, I went back to the original letter I received in the mail and realized it was a scam, but I had already given them my information.

I recently purchased a car and at the dealership I purchased a warranty. I received a call from a local number that told me they were calling to activate my warranty. they had some information about me already and told me that this was the same warranty i purchased in person and they were only turning it on. they needed banking information to auto draft to pay for the warranty. they asked me to confirm information about my vehicle. I called the dealership later that day to confirm my suspicion it was a scam and they told me it was.

I received a letter in the mail that made it appear my Vehicle Service Contract from Toyota had not been activated. I called to ensure my contract was activated. The man who answered identified himself as Jermaine and told me the phone call was being recorded for quality assurance multiple times. He asked for the customer ID and to verify the make, model, and mileage on my car. From this he gave me a quote for a contract price. I asked why there was a price since I already purchased it through Toyota. He stated it was an additional coverage needed by my lender. Then he asked for a payment method and account numbers.
