Type of a scam: Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill

(818) 873-3226

Also received text messages from (818) 873-3226 claiming to be from a [local city] Emergency Medical Group asking to pay a bill to a local hospital. Called hospital who said they call and email people for bill reminders, and bill notices would always show up in the member portal, not via text message.

Please don't fall for this scam and always call your hospital before clicking on any links or giving money to scammers.

Scam - check with the official hospital website if you need to really pay something

Received texts from (818) 873-3226 stating that I had overdue medical bills and needed to pay by due date.

I logged into the actual hospital website and checked with them, no bill.

When in doubt, always check with official sources. A text message with a link is not to be immediately trusted!

Yes, It's a scam

I received text messages saying I owed $1340 for an emergency room visit and to visit a website to pay to avoid collection activity. However, my insurance had already paid the bill and I had paid the copay. I called the phone number and heard a recorded message asking if they "could help you in any way with your development." I was then cut off. Clearly a scam.
