eBay Motors Reports & Reviews (88)

I'm looking for a vehicle to purchase. I chose an ad that I saw on Facebook Marketplace. The ad stated that the listing came from Springfield IL, send a message to [email protected]. I sent a message. A few days later, I received a response. The seller stated that she was selling a 2013 Honda Accord for $1,500. Shipping would be paid for. She was using EBay Motors to handle the transaction so she could stay out of it and that we both would be protected. No worries. She stated the car was in Bellvue NE. All you have to do is make the payment, the car would be delivered in 2-3 days with all of the necessary documents. Also, there is a 5 day inspection included. The buyer could have the car checked out to make sure that there was nothing wrong with it as she stated. She said she was selling the car due to her husband had recently died and the car reminds her of him. There was a number provided for eBay Motors. I called the number and spoke with a gentleman by the name of David. He assured that this was a legitimate deal. He also stated that the payment would be made through bitcoin. A bitcoin location was provided. Upon arrival, call eBay Motors to complete the transaction. I did so on 10-31-2022. Upon. Completing the $1,500 transaction, I received an email asking for an additional $1,000. This $1,000 was for delivery. When the vehicle is delivered, you will get $1,000 cas back. I stated that that was not agreed upon. I then asked for a refund, which it states that a refund could be issued by bank account, check or money order. I sent an email to this Sara Morgan, and she stated that she was sorry, this is a tax, she paid her part, now I have to pay mine. She also stated that eBay has rules, and she will not respond anymore. I never agreed to those terms. I only thought that a payment of $1,500 was due, the car would be shipped and I could register the car in my name. I was also led to believe that this was secure and safe, and that she would pay for shipping.

I was looking on facebook marketplace for a cheap car. I saw a 2006 Acura TL for sale for $800.00. when I clicked on the message to see if it was still available a person responded that he had ran the ad for his aunt and then gave me her e-mail address. I e-mailed the person and the response was from a Kelly Sutton. She stated that the car is as clean as described and that all the papers are with ebay motors. I needed to respond with my name, phone number, e-mail address, and home address. Which I did submit but I did not release any financial information. I received a order #954919JWU323 status was "waiting for payment confirmation".

On the bottom of the order it explained how payment was to be made by going to a CVS, 7 eleven, Dollar General ect and purchasing ebay cards equaling a total value of $800.

They went on writing the instructions that I was to take cash and purchase those 4 $200.00 cards and then scratch off the security code, e-mail it, and all my information. Car was to be delivered in 2 days.

I looked on facebook marketplace and found a UTV we wanted. I contacted the seller and she said she had turned it over to eBay to sell/ship to us. Then I get the attached email from ebay and said they would only accept gift cards. We passed on the deal because eBay should take many different forms of payment.

I found a car on facebook marketplace which seemed legit when i clicked it . They would only talk to me through email. After giving description of the car and reasons for sale she told me everything would be through ebay motors. They sent me a invoice that looked legit had my information on it but their customer service website was fake and they asked me to purchase gift cards. I didnt know this was a big scam ordeal. I really wish i would've did more research before going through the process.

I was communicating with a woman through Facebook who had a 2005 Nissan Altima for sale. She said the deal would go through Ebay motors. I called a number and EBay motors told me to send them $800 in gift cards. I did that and then they asked for $1,000 for insurance. I thought that was suspicious so I called BBB, which told me I had been scammed.

I saw a good deal on a used Honda on Facebook market place. I inquired about the car and agreed to buy it for $13,000 cash. The "seller" said the purchase would be set up buy "ebay motors" It looked legit. I sent him the money, $6000 in ebay cards and the rest wired as requested. All communication stopped as soon as i sent the money. I researched it ands realized it was a scam.

I was trying to purchase a car from offer up. I emailed the owner - she said it was 800. She has it in storage so she referred me to eBay motors. I got a message from them this morning asking me to buy go $800 in ebay gift cards asking me to send pics and send the verification codes.

I saw a truck on Craigslist and informed about it through a number listed on the ad for a 2002 Toyota truck. A woman Cassandra Ball text me, see copy of text included. As you can see by copies of all email messages from eBay Motors and Ms. Ball, from there which transpired. I have my original OneVanilla Mastercard cards and receipts. I called One Vanilla cards and she gave me a website of Taoboa.com that was given to them when they cashed the cards. We thought all long we were dealing with Ebay Motors as you can see from the emails. They gave no telephone number or address only contacting them through emails. Please see details on the copies enclosed and our conversations. At one point I did get  of a scam but there again I thought I was dealing with a reputable source, i.e. Ebay Motors. Only when we felt we had been scammed did I look up Ebay Motors and saw Ebay Motors scam. Everything it said went along with what had happened. We'd never brought anything from Ebay Motors and didn't know they didn't deliver, etc. I hope tis will help they are scammed with same thing.

I found a boat on Craig's list that I wanted to buy. I contacted them through the information that was there. They wanted me to put money in  Ebay motors account as an escrow account, $35,000. It was a good price for the type of boat that it is, it's one third the price that the boat should be. I didn't do it.

Yes I went to Facebook market to look for a car. I found one I like and sent a message letting them know that I was interested. Ok, we exchanged emails and she began to say she was selling the car because her son passed away and it was his car but he passed away from a bike accident. It was a 2010 Nissan Maxima Sv for $1200.00 and the reason she was selling it so low because it brings back bad memories and she wanted it gone ASAP. So she told me she put it on eBay motors support department. She said I have to get Best Buy gift cards 3 of the them two was $500 and one was $200.00 so I did exactly like she said because it was my first time doing it. So I had to take a picture of the back of the card so they can get the numbers and the pin. So I did and sent it to the eBay motors department email. So they said when I send the money it would be processed and they will shipped the car to my address. Then they say for shipping insurance I had to pay an additional $1000.00 dollars but they never said that before hand. So I told them I didn’t have the extra $1000.00 so can they just send me my money back please and thank you. After I said that they never replied back to me at all. I called the cards and all the money was gone.

My name is Brandon and I been scam off eBay motors I was supposed to pay 800 for a car then they asked for another 800 for insurance then they ask for another 600 for sale taxes now they do not respond at all though email I have all my receipts from the 1600 scam which totals 4 200 gift cards to eBay I then told them I want my money back now no one is emailing me back not the seller or eBay motors

I was in the process of assisting my daughter with locating and purchasing her first vehicle. I found a vehicle for sale on OfferUp and contacted the individual (Emma M*****) who was selling the car. This person communicated that she is in the military and was recently deployed with her medical team to work outside of the country for 15 months and did not want to store the car in a facility and would rather sell it. The seller sent pictures of the vehicle and stated that she was selling the vehicle through eBay motors and would start the process of selling the car to us. We have never worked with eBay Motors, therefore we trusted that this individual knew what she was doing. We received an invoice on with Ms. M******* name and address on it and the cost of the vehicle. We were then guided through the process of paying $600 for the vehicle. We then were contacted on December 28th stating that we needed to pay for the cost of shipping the vehicle to Arizona from Nebraska. We were instructed to pay both $600 plus $1000 by eBay cards. We sent the requested information to the email address provided ([email protected]). We received another email today (December 28th) stating that we needed to pay and additional $1000 for the driver who would transport the vehicle to us. This is when I requested a full refund of $1600 at which time I was told that I could not have a refund because paperwork had already been drafted with my daughters name. This is when I became suspicious. I requested to have number to speak with a customer service manager and was told that communication is only done through email. I continued to search for a customer service number for eBay. I was able to get in contact with eBay by phone. I explained to them what I was experiencing with my current transaction and the representative shared that more than likely I was scammed because they only take transactions by Visa and Mastercard on their website. The invoice looked legitimate. This experience is extremely devastating for my daughter. I am trying to figure out how to resolve the matter as her parent.

I saw this car for sale in marketplace for a thousand bucks I told this person that I was interested they told me to send two five hundred dollar Best Buy cards I sent it then they said send another five dollar gift card and a hundred dollar gift card they said that the car would be shipped and I got another e mail saying Mississippi customs has the car and they need another thousand I thought it was funny so I alerted u all .

I found a car for sale on Facebook from someone Julia Barker. She wanted $1000 for a Tahoe. She sent me an invoice appearing to be from Ebay Motors, it instructed me to pay for the vehicle using eBay gift cards.

[email protected] posted a vehicle for sale on Facebook marketplace. Once you show interest she said "I'm in the army with my military medical team and right now I am in a military base. We are training, getting ready for leaving the country. Before leaving I had prearranged the deal with eBay services so my presence isn't necessary." Then the aforementioned email from "ebay motors" will send you an invoice. Since the invoice is sent in an attachment, I did not open it. The seller says you will not pay any money but then you get an invoice from ebay motors saying that you have to pay the amount to be held during the time you are test driving/inspecting the vehicle. The seller is unavailable so once you pay "ebay motors" (which the email is not an Ebay domain) they do not provide the purchased item and just steal your money.
