Scammer company scrapes online information for new business entities' contact information, then contacts them to pretend to be the official manner of registering a federal EIN for a new company. Registering a new EIN is actually free and instantaneous via IRS.gov. This company charges $149 and does not file for the EIN immediately. They do not let the victim know that the process should be free via IRS.gov. As a part of their forms they take your Social Security Number and Credit Card information as well as address and full name.

When searching for IRS EIN application, this site was the first to pull up via an ad. I clicked on it as it has IRS in the URL and the website says IRS 2023 EIN Application at the top and is in blue and white just like the real IRS site. I thought it was legit. I come to find out that this is a free service the IRs provides, and this company is pretending to be the IRS to get new, excited business owners to forfeit up their money, when they could use that to invest in their business. I don't understand how it is even legal for them to be doing this!
