A Facebook marketplace buyer asked for my phone number and asked if they could send me a verification code for Google voice to ensure I was a real person. They then said the code didn’t work and started to ask for other family members phone numbers.

On FB they posted women's sandals with cushioned insoles, and used QVC logo to fraudulently misrepresent where they were actually from. They advertised as "designer comfort sandals. They also had photos of the shoes (the actual shoe is nothing like the photos. Obviously these are cheap "replicas" of a popular sandal sold in legitimate stores. Materials such as the shoe straps and even the foot bed are substandard. They glued a cheap piece of material on the foot bed, covering the manufacturer name and the shoe size. Making it Clear, that they are cheap knock offs!

I tried to contact at the above email with no success. Based on the pathetic "quality" of these sandals they're clearly from China, or somewhere overseas. This is a very unfortunate "lesson" to clearly check where these offers originate from.

I'm attaching all the chats we had from the beginning, which started at 9:06 am on Thursday, September 7. I found the ad on FB Marketplace and asked if the refrigerator was still available? She said yes. We scheduled a time for them to deliver, with a $30 unload fee for a total of $630. On their way to my house, she said that I shouldn't plug it in for at least 30 minutes to allow and also they would give me 3 days for a refund if it didn't work. To allow the freon or anything else to settle from being moved. So, they unloaded the refrigerator in my garage and I opened it up and looked through it. Seemed to be fine. I paid them $630 cash. The man, left me his phone number, which of course is not in service.

The number was 517-503-0066. While I was messaging back and forth with the lady I had been talking with, her name appeared as Kat Morgan. As soon as they left, she left the chat. I plugged the refrigerator in at 8:00 pm last night, placed a water bottle in the refrig part and one in the freezer. Checked it this morning and nothing had changed. it was not getting cold. So, I tried calling the number he left and a recording came on to say that the number you are calling cannot be located, please try your call again. So, now I'm stuck with a refrigerator that doesn't work and out $630. How can people go through life doing things like this to people.

The scammer wanted to buy a desk that I just listed on facebook marketplance. She wanted to send me a verification code. When I sent it, she said my phone number was not verifiable and asked for another number. In the meantime, I had given her my name. I didn't give her another phone number so I didn't hear back.

Went back to Facebook for the account as well as Venmo, they deleted the account.

I am selling a saw on Facebook Marketplace. Connie Garcia offered my asking price of $350, I accepted. She claimed she can pick it up tomorrow and pay cash so I gave her my address and phone number . She then asked to send a 6 digit verification code because she had been scammed before. She sent it and I was sceptical but returned it. She then immediately ended the chat and when i tried contacting her it came up unable to send text. I tried looking up her profile and there is no information about her in her profile other than i assume a fake picture.

This [censored] posted an Apple Watch Series 7 for sale for 75.00 I responded that i wanted the watch. He asked about meeting up and I asked if he could ship it in which he said yes. Then he came back with he posted it wrong, his wife wanted 125 for the watch. i said not I agreed to buy the watch for 75. he then said how about 100. I said since he was shipping it then i would pay the extra. He then asked for my address. and I asked for his payment methods, he gave me Christopher-jacobs-55 for his Venmo and then $Chrisj1023 for his cash app.

after a few days i didn't receive the watch, so i messaged him, he said he just sent it out, i asked for a tracking number or a pic of the receipt saying that he had sent it and from that point on, he has not had any other contact with me. I have messaged him several times asking for my money back but still no reply.

I came into contact with him on Facebook marketplace. I am not the only person he has done this to.

I contacted Venmo and they say that there is nothing that can be done. I am at a loss.

I thank you for any help I can get so that this [censored] won't do this to anyone else.

I've contacted them via Facebook multiple times. I placed the order, received confirmation, then nothing. I only received a message after posting on social media that it appeared to be a shame. O then received a message with what was alleged to be a USPS tracking number. This tracking number appears to be invalid.

I ordered a couch on Facebook Marketplace from a suggested ad for $59.99 and was charged for that and a foreign ATM fee of $1.80 and was sent a pair of sunglasses instead. I have no way to contact the company and they have not contacted me since debiting my card until I got the sunglasses with a thank you for ordering from the company. I DID NOT order sunglasses and do not know how to pursue the company to get my money back.

Approached on Facebook Marketplace by Judith Burns for a product I was selling. Asked for my phone number. Was persistent about it. I wouldn’t give it and asked theirs and they wouldn’t respond. Obvious phishing scheme to get my phone number to target me and those I know.

- Astoria, OR, USA

Approached on Facebook marketplace on two separate listings by a person stating they were Sarah Kubik who said they would buy and pick up both items today then gave their phone number and asked for mine. I refused and they did not respond again.

- Grand Rapids, MN, USA

From FB Marketplace. Someone said they wanted to buy what I was selling, and asked me via FB Messenger for the address to pick it up. They asked for my phone, and texted me a "verification number" and asked me to tell them what it is so they know I'm legit. I told them. THEN, Person #1 added Person #2 to the messenger convo. Looked up both of their profiles and they were both locked down tight ('fake' FB profile(s)). THEN they asked for family and friends numbers, and that's when I shut it down. Now they know my phone and my address. I'm pretty sure they don't know my name, because my FB acct is a pseudonym. How do I find out if they have done damage? I notified my bank and changed my FB password. What do I do now?
