I received many calls at my cell phone from the number 1-779-87987. Thinking it was my doctor's office. I finally answered the call today (8/5/2016 at 3:23 pm) and a lady named Annie, who knew my name, stated that she was from the Federal Reserve. She stated that I had been randomly chosen to received a grant of $1,069. Without me saying anything else, she said "you may be wondering where this money is from..." She processed, to tell me that 150 lucky people have been selected for this grant, that they had to be of Hispanic descent and that they had to American Citizens. Apparently, I was one of those "selected people."

She asked how I would like to receive the grant...via a wire into my checking account, or money order via Western Union. At this point I was really suspicious due to NEVER receiving a call like this from the Federal Reserve. So, I asked her once more where she called from. She answered and quickly went to ask how I would like the money. I told her I had to look into it. At that point, she clicked on me. I tried calling the phone number back to see if I could find out more information prior to reporting this scam, but the number was invalid.

I was told that I received a government grant in the amount of 14,000. They gave me a reference number La23314 and a phone number to call the treasury department. I told them I been scam before so I would like to check the company out before issuing any personal information.

You get a call saying that you qualify for a government grant they say you don't have to pay back they give you ID # and a phone number to call to verify your grant. When you call they tell you to buy them a prepaid card with 285.00 on it. Call them back with the 285.00. And you will receive your money within 15 min via money transfer or deposit into your account.

Small talk and family conversation at first, the asked by supposed friend if I knew anything about Government

Grants for elderly or disabled ?

Response was no I haven't. Supposed friend went ahead and began to explain how it had worked for her;

Send in $500.00 to Government Representative, receive in a few days$120,000.00 ,

Supposed friend went on to give link for contact by phone.

Responses sent to link by text message.

Pressing for when funds could be sent.

Discussed with daughter and son regarding chat and came to realization its a scam.

Had phone number changed due to texts being received from supposed government agency.

Foreign sounding male individual called cell phone claiming to be from the Federal Government and stated that I had been selected to receive a grant from the Federal Government because I met the guidelines. Caller had my name and home address. Caller stated that for a one-time, refundable $200 application fee I would receive the money via my choice of check, pre-paid card or by Western Union. Caller said to use code AL707 as identifier for Western Union to send the application fee. The caller would not provide further information. Caller did not speak English well and there was lots of noise in the background of his location. I called the number back that showed on my caller ID and another foreign sounding male answered the phone and "verified" the call as real.

1,700 people selected and I am one for a Government Grant offered $9K with a confirmation # and Call back number. Did not even have time to call the number and ask further upon receiving another call offering $7K from the Treasury Dept. and Ck from Reserve Bank of NY with the same spill of a different confirmation # and Call back number to get the money transferred to my account or Cash pick up at a local Western Union. Really??? They said I had been selected through the HHS. Never have to pay back or taxes on these funds. Ha, from the government and not have to pay taxes. They have way too much information they spill out about my phone #, Zip, name, address, etc. and I do not believe a word they have to say since they are foreign accents. Oh, I am to keep all of this confidential since only 1500 people were selected. Since they are different and then I am not a fool to call either but to report this as a SCAM. Thanks for this. They gave me a I.D. number and told me to call 206-946-8172 and they would instruct me on how to collect the money. they asked if I wanted it sent to my bank account or receive cash. I didn't give my bank account so they said they would get the money to me through Wal-Mart. I hung up and called BBB.

I received a text and email from [email protected] saying that I qualified and I just needed to wire $5000 to receive the money. Second number is 432-242-7893. I called the BBB.

6-22-2016. I received a phone call from a female (she said her name is Jane Wilson) with a very distinct accent (I couldn't place it) who told me of a $9000 grant I had been selected to receive. She went into great detail about how the money was tax-free and all I had to do was call her supervisor at the toll free number of 888-869-0311 and give them my authorization # of SW1011. She also asked me to select a pharmacy near me where the grant would be provided. She then called me back in about 3 minutes to see if I had mad the call.
