Hired Michael Deacon to spray paint our kitchen cabinets. We have an open concept home and he was not even going to mask off/put plastic up around the kitchen before spraying the in-place cabinets. He told us we wouldn't have use of the kitchen for a few days. It was 2 weeks. Some days he wouldn't come at all, some days he would show up at 3 for a few hours. He took our cabinet doors and drawers fronts away to spray off site. Week after week went by and he said he was still touching them up. We paid him 50% up front and then he asked for $500 more as he needed more paint. We were to have cream paint on the upper cabinets and dark blue on the lower. After he was done spraying the in-place cupboards and the masking was taken off, there were 33 areas that needed attention...drips, over spray on our newly painted ceiling, on our living room wall, a sofa table which had never been moved from the area, electrical cords, our backsplash and on and on. There were drops and several areas that had been missed altogether. There was also blue paint in the grooves in our hardwood floor. I spent 10 hours wiping every surface in our kitchen cupboards, living room and dining room as they were all covered in blue sticky dust. He told us we didn't need to empty our cupboards, so everything in those had to be wiped down too as they were also covered in blue sticky dust. He painted the ceiling white again and painted half the living room wall that had blue on it, but you could see a line of paint where only half had new paint on it. By our breakfast counter he just painted over top of some masking tape on the wall. After 6 weeks he finally installed 6 doors that were still tacky even though they were apparently painted 6 weeks previous to that. The wrong doors were hung on several cupboard and the rest were left leaning all over our counters. Michael never came back after that to hang the rest or fix the 33 areas that needed attention. It became apparent that the upper cabinets were painted dark blue in error first and then painted cream. That is why he needed $500 extra for paint because he used the wrong color the first time. Blue is showing through on those doors and there are marks and finger prints on them. He also drilled holes in all of them to hang them to spray and didn't fill them in. He was not in contact with us for some time and we began to think we may never get our doors back (and damaged maple/cherry table we had sent with him for him to sand and get the blue paint off of. Finally on a Monday he said he was going to come with a bunch of guys to hang the doors and make it right. At this point we didn't want him in our house ever again. On the Friday he dropped off the blue doors and they are a mess. Drips of paint all over them, white paint on them and some kind of white filler, holes just painted over in gobs of paint, one glass door covered in paint and out maple/cherry table is gouged on the top. We are incredulous. I have lost wages for the several days I didn't work when I stayed at home for him and he never showed up. I used some inheritance money to pay Michael and it has been squandered. How does this con artist sleep at night?

We had a guy come to our home claiming he was a General Contractor. We needed our bathroom renovated and so we hired him. His name is Michael Deacon. He started on November 14th 2022. He had verbally told us it would take a week. We payed him half upfront like normal. He would constantly ask for more money and eveytime we would pay him he would dissappear for days at a time. He would only show up 2 times a week. This was going on for 6 weeks. He did not take criticism very well when we would ask him to fix something. He caused alot of damage to our home including pouring concrete down our shower drain after he decided to walk put on the job. He claims we didn't pay him a dime but we have etransfers. We also found out another family who was going through the same thing as us at the same time. He was going from our house to their house destroying everything. He messed up our electrical and our plumbing. He left live wires exposed in our kitchen and messed up the wiring. Before walking out on the jon he had vandalized our shower by making sure we can not use it. Now we have to hire another contractor to demolish what was done and start from scratch. He also charged us HST and he is not registered with CRA.
