Internal Revenue Service(IRS) Reports & Reviews (271)

- Ruther Glen, VA, USA

I live in the Ruther Glen, Va. area and this morning I had a phone call from a man, who's name I could not understand, saying he was from the Internal Revenue Service and that I owed them $1800.00. He left a call back number and I returned the call and he answered Internal Revenue Service. The phone is 1-903-600-2071. I was to go to Walmart and someone would be in touch from there. I hung up on him. Thank you for your time

A computer generated call came to my home voice mail. The caller claimed to be a representative of the IRS and left a warning not to ignore the call or I could be subjected to serious consequences.

IRS scam #504-648-7634

- Warner Robins, GA, USA

I received two calls from the IRS. They left the same message.

- Twin Falls, ID, USA

I received a call from 1-202-751-2564 saying they were the Internal Revenue Service and filing a lawsuit against me. (This was a female recorded voice.) I called back and Officer James Williams of the "IRS" badge #IR280792 case #FN9136 asked for my number that had been called and my name. (He had an accent from India area) He then said he was going to read the affidavit against me and not to interrupt until he was done. He stated that my tax returns between the years 2009 and 2014 had under reported my income. He then said to hold on and when he came back on the line it was on a speaker phone he asked if I was who I said I was. When I said I was he said no I wasn't who was I. I told him I already told him who I was and to never call me again. This is the second phone call I have received from this number and same voice mail is why I decided to call back.

March 1, 2016 Received a telephone call this morning at 8:34 a.m. Was told it was the IRS calling. Had been trying to call me and that this call was final notice. I was to call 206 488-4989 right away.

- Omaha, NE, USA

I received a robotic voicemail from 210-429-8253 saying, "Retain attorney of record to return the call. The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. I am officer Nickie Johnson from Internal Revenue Service and the hotline in my division is 210-429-8253. I repeat, that’s 210-429-8253. Don’t disregard this message and do return the call before we take any action against you. Good bye and take care."

Today I received a call from this number (904)638-5110 from a guy I could barely understand because his accent was extremely strong... He said that due to my good criminal record that call he was giving me was a courtesy. He said he was calling me from the Internal Revenue Services because I had been evading to pay taxes for the last 5 year which is a BIG LIE!!! He told me that he was going to call the local police and have me picket up because of this. I called back to try to speak to someone else and I got a lady on the phone which said it was a supervisor, when I asked her for the case # she said (your account has been market red and then hang up). I then called again and I was put on hold but then the lines crossed and I was able to hear a man saying (Do not call me again I know this is a scam, you are not getting anything from me. Go ahead and call the cops on me) I then told the man I was calling for the same reason and hang up.

I'm sure they were calling me to ask for money but I think they noticed I was not falling for it.

They're calling & saying they are the Internal Revenue Service & I need to call back asap before they take legal action and to call Nicky Johnson

Had a phone message on my land line as follows: Hello, this call is officially a final notice from IRS. The reason for this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. To get more information about your case file, please call immediately on our department number 202-817-4524. I repeat 202-817-4524. The number showing on my caller ID 011-202-8174.

We received a phone call at (610-921-0871), leaving a message on our answering machine stating to return the call to the "IRS, Gordon, ID #181809, 202.766.6704" . Upon return the call, my husband, Kevin P. Weidenhammer, was informed that he owed "back taxes to the IRS for the years 2009 thru 2014 in the amount of $8,600.00". The gentleman (who had a heavy mid-eastern accent) proceeded to inquire as to how he wanted to pay for this, he then asked him how much money he had in his checking and/or savings account, and that he didn't pay it he would be arrested tomorrow (the call was recv'd on 2/8). When my husband spoke to our neighbor, he indicated that he received a similar call last week. I realize that this is a "complete scam" but since a phone number was provided I though I would report it to see if anything could be done. Any attention and/or information that you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you, Jerry Geisler.

I received a call from someone saying they were going to put a lien against my home because if defrauded the IRS. Wanted me to call before they contact the local courthouse.

Today, Feb. 1, 2016 at approx. 8:47 a.m., a message was left on answering machine from Internal Revenue Service stating that a lawsuit has been filed against me. The call back number is 202-754-8440. - Prairieville, LA, USA

Today I received a very threatening and aggressive phone call on my cell phone from 262-592-4619 claiming they were from the IRS and they were filing suit against me for money owed from a tax audit. They said I had 45 minutes to pay them over $5000 or there would be a sheriff at my door arresting me and seizing my property. They gave me a case number, and had bogus answers for all of my questions. The more I objected and said this was a scam, the angrier they got and claimed I would go to jail for going against the government. These thieves with their intimidation techniques have to be stopped before they actually get away with this and steal well meaning citiizens money.

Received a call on my cellphone from someone saying they are with the IRS. Not sure if it was a recording or an actual person. I hung up in the middle of their spill.

I just received the following phone call, claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service.

It claimed, to quote, that ”the reason for this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. To get further information, call this number immediately: 202-469-1967.”

I believe that this is a scam.
