Internal Revenue Service(IRS) Reports & Reviews (271)

- Sandy, UT, USA

Received message from someone from the IRS stating it was the final notice to pay taxes due or an arrest warrant would be issued. Instructed to call Officer Mark ??? at 1(202)-239-2752. Aware of the scam and did not return the call.

- Big Rapids, MI, USA

It was a computer voice saying she was Officer *someone* who was calling to let me know I could prevent further legal actions by calling back at a number she gave and pay my taxes/fees... blah blah blah...

I have a resident at the retirement community I work at who received a phone call from a person stating that they were with the Internal Revenue Service. We've told her these kind of phone calls are scams so she did not say anything to them, but she was very worried about some of the other residents here who might be tricked by these people. What seemed most frightening to her was that the person on the line told her very firmly that she needed to call them back and that they were watching her and her house!

I don't know whether these people would have attempted to take money from my resident since she did not call them back, but since they were calling from the "IRS," I'm guessing they might have if she had taken the bait.

- Destin, FL, USA

I have received three voice mail messages between August 17th and August 22nd, each from a different area code, stating that it is the Internal Revenue Service calling to advise that they will be "taking legal action against" my name. The last message said that they are "filing a lawsuit against me and that an arrest warrant will be issued", unless I call an Officer Jonathan ______. The first call came from (502) 716-5803, the second call from (610) 335-1123, and the third call from (202) 239-8720.

I did not talk to anyone to give them a chance to ask me for any money.

- Sioux Falls, SD, USA

I was on break when I received a call from a new York number. It was an automated message saying the internal revenue service had filed a lawsuit against me unless I called the same number back and payed off the amount I supposedly owed. It was the fakes the attempt at a scam I had seen but amy obvious scam no less and I hung up.

- Round Rock, TX, USA

I received a voicemail saying that the IRS is filling a lawsuit against me and to call +12678416956

- Santa Fe, NM, USA

A recorded message saying they were the Internal Revenue Service said that they were filling a law suite against me unless I called the above number. I hung up and reported it to the New Mexico Attorney General's office.

- Middleton, WI, USA

I received a recorded message on my answering machine, purporting to be from the IRS. It claimed that this was a final notice that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me, and that I should call them back at 206-567-7844 to inquire about my case file. I did not call them, but want to alert others about this attempted scam.

- Kirkland, IL, USA

Have received voice mail asking me to call 844-592-0147 because a warrant had been issued under my name. When calling, they tell me they are calling from the "Internal Revenue Service" and I need to settle tax debt immediately before they take action. I called again and they once again answered with "Internal Revenue Service", when I asked the name of the company or agency again, they hung up on me. I called a third time, and they answered once again, "internal Revenue Service". I asked, "is this the Internal Revenue Service?", and they once again hung up on me. here is the other number they gave my wife asking me to call them, 877-442-5973.

My brother received a similar call recently. They asked him to pay them over the phone or they would proceed with action against him.

- Dayton, OH, USA

It's an automated message telling you that they are a "deputy" and that they are filing a tax lawsuit against you. This is not a human contacting, this is a machine that is trying to solicit unwitting people into calling the phone number back in an effort to scare you into their money laundering tactics.

They will call you and tell you to call them back because they have an arrest warrant for you but they all are foreigners and when you challenge them they hang up on you

The message on the answering machine is: "This is the Internal Revenue Service. We would really, really like to speak to you ... some irregularities."

I couldn't understand the word before 'some.'

- Abilene, TX, USA

Received a cell phone call from someone saying they were with the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) saying a warrant had been issued for my arrest and that my personal assets were at risk. They stated that I needed to call the number 412 566-4067 to find out what steps I needed to take to fix the situation. This message was left on my voice messages. I did not respond to the call and have currently block the call to my cell phone.

- Martin, SC, USA

The person called last Thursday evening around 7:00pm on my cell phone, I did not answer because I did not recognize the phone number and let it go into voice mail. Listening to the message later, they said it was the Internal Revenue Service and I needed to contact them immediately regarding fraud and to get my file number to discuss this matter. Friday night about the same time I get another call from the same number, again I do not answer and listen to the call later. This time the voice (a man) said his name was Officer Jeff (do not remember last name) and he was with IRS, their was a "warrant out for my arrest" and I needed to call back immediately to discuss my fraud account. I did not return any calls because I believed this to be a scam, however, I do want to report this for warning purposes.

It is now three days since this has happened and I have not received any phone calls. From (888)223-0998

- Boonville, MO, USA

I received a phone call stating that it was the IRS and I was being audited. The automated message requested that I call the number listed above for details. When I called, I spoke with Jeff Walker, IRM# 279258. He told me that my 2012 - 2016 taxes had been audited and that there had been a miscalculation and I had underpaid my taxes. I was told that the IRS had a warrant for my arrest and that my drivers license would be revoked and my bank account frozen if I didn't pay $4,986.00. At that point I told "Jeff" that I was going to report this as a scam and I hung up the phone. Immediately, the 1-850-204-0847 automated call dialed my cell phone again. I denied that call and this number has called me again since then that I didn't answer.

- Pensacola, FL, USA

I received a phone call from Jaden Benson, ID # RR129544, stating he was from the IRS and they are filing a lawsuit on me, and an arrest warrant has been issued, but if I agree to resolve this IRS claim, by paying so much money a month, they will not issue the warrant. Please be aware this is happening and the ScamPulse.com is getting phone calls about this everyday and it is a scam, the IRS does not call you, not do they send a text or e-mail.

- Colorado Springs, CO, USA

2 calls received within half hour---had let it go to answering machine.----1st said they were calling from Internal Revenue Service---saying "they" were taking legal action against us and we needed to call right away. 2nd call they left message it was the Internal Revenue Service--that this was "officially" a final notice they would be taking legal action against us, that we should call immediately to their "dept." number: 912/304-4390. --Each time message left sounded like a recording.

- Middleton, ID, USA

Recording claimed to be the IRS informing me that they have filed a lawsuit against me and have a warrant for my arrest and that I need to call to resolve the matter.
