- Shreveport, LA, USA

Said he had an investigative report on me from the IRS. What upset me is he said not to hang up "This call is very serious". He did not actually threaten me. It was just what he said & the voice he used that scared me.

- Shreveport, LA, USA

If I did not pay my back taxes I go to jail. They said I haven't paid my back taxes and if I didn't paid my taxes the police in my area would come out and arrest me. For not paying my taxes and I said what taxes I haven't work since 1998 and he hung up the phone.

- Sacramento, CA, USA

Someone claiming to be from the IRS called stating that I was being investigated for tax fraud regarding falsifying medical information for 2012-2016. He even went as far as to say he was deputy Max Parker badge number gs30302. He says that they have issued a warrant for my arrest regarding my $7000 debt owed to the IRS and that I needed to pay it right away or they will arrest me. When I told him to go ahead and issue the warrant he angrily stated “ok Stay where you are I am sending an officer to arrest you as we speak.” Then he hung up.

- Broadview, IL, USA

I received an automated phone call claiming that the IRS was suing me. I called the number back and a man with an accent referenced an address I lived at about 10 years ago. I expressed that nothing was sent to me in writing from the IRS. He responded that I wasn’t taking responsibility. I told him I was going to report him as scammer and that I heard about them on the news. He said there was a warrant out for my arrest. I said that he was lying. Call ended. I called again 5 minutes later and a woman answered by asking me “I am I ready now?” I answered that that was confirmation again of a scam. She hung up quickly.

Received an email from IRS stating I owed then money. Here is what they sent:

Third reminder: Notice of Intent to levy your current income tax return.

Due amount right away: $734.44

All of our files indicate that you have unsettled amount for a year closing December 31,2017 (Application form ). Account Balance notice TN51

The message said to call the number back within an hour or an aresst warrant would be issued and I would be arrested at my house

- Madison, AL, USA

I received a message on my cell phone and the caller stated " Ms. Jackson, I am calling from the Legal Department of Internal Revenue Services. This is in reference to a criminal lawsuit filed against you your case number is IRSC0318. The moment you receive this message I need you to return the call. The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. The hotline number is 301.966.0808. Don't disregard this message do return the call. Now if you don't return the call and I don't hear from your attorney either then the only thing I can do is wish you a good luck on this situation."

I returned the call and he preceded to tell me me that my house and car was about to be seized. He also said that my check would be garnished and my checking and savings account would be frozen. He said that I had one of two options. I could get an attorney to fix this or I could pay him approximately $5300 today.

- Anchorage, AK, USA

Called me with an automated message to declare the message is from IRS and that it is urgent that I call back at the number because I have been selected by random auditing for tax fraud in the past 5 years. I called back and the agent provided me with an employee id, case # id, with an outstanding amount, and declared the "4 violations" committed. When I questioned the legitimacy of claims and demanded that I receive an official letter to state this, the operator claimed to have already sent letters and this is the final courtesy call. Eventually I was routed to an "Officer" then onto a "Senior Officer" after each of my attempts to question their legitimacy. Each operator had a very noisy background, as if it was a call center. The connection was very poor. And once I disconnected the call, they returned the call multiple times with a hidden number, ie "0000000000".

- Cromwell, IN, USA

Other numbers are 702-421-0305. And 202-643-6170 this one claims to be IRS as well trying to give me $9000 gov Grant that don't have to be paid back. I've not given no info. I did get a badge # of 12106 name Marshall.

Did not give name or any info, said yes before i heard about them recording the affirmative answer

- Bowie, MD, USA

The scammer attempted to pronounce a bogus common name without an accent. "Robert White". His badge ID number for the IRS was not enough digits. He was unprofessional. When I told him he was a fraud he hung up the phone.

- Omaha, NE, USA

I rec'd a partial voice message which stated "so we can discuss about this case before taking any legal action against you within 24 hrs there are 4 serious allegations pressed on your name" and if not resolved by calling us back, you will be taken under custody by the local police as there are 4 serious allegations pressed on your name". "Call back,I repeat, 716-543-5381"

- Mishawaka, IN, USA

He called me a black [censored] monkey when I told him he was scamming people. I have a feeling the IRS wouldn't do that.

- Broussard, LA, USA

I received a message on my answering machine that I could barely hear. I called the # on my caller id and identified myself by last name. The lady who answered claimed to be with the IRS. I was told a name (Jenny Smith)and badge number (GS1512)to write down as well as a dc #(47271).The lady asked my first name and verified my address. After a pause where I could hear background noises like people talking the lady told me the line was being recorded and she read off a list of 4/5 charges Dealing with lack of tax payment and misrepresentation of tax information. She told me I risked fines, arrest, and prison time. She claimed I owed the IRS $8840.00. By then I was getting nervous and angry because I remembered hearing about the scam in the news and that the IRS does their business through the mail. I quickly told her that I was good about paying my taxes and that I would talk to my husband and get back to them. I hung up before she could respond!

- Jackson, NJ, USA

Received a call on my cell phone that said I would be arrested if I did not call them back in 24 hours. They did not identify themselves on voicemail (as I never answer calls whose number I do not recognize). So after playing the voicemail I figured I should call them if there was an arrest warrant (which I knew had to be false or I might have been victimized by ID Theft), it sounded like a boiler room operation, everyone had an Indian accent - told them I knew they were scammers and would be reporting them!
