Type of a scam Employment
I lost my job and was looking for a remote job working from home. I uploaded my resumé at CareerBuilder.com for a remote data entry job. On 11/13/23 Andrew Acton (615) 909-3718 of Florence Healthcare (this is the only phone no. I have) contacted me that I was selected and if I was interested, the interview and briefing for the position will be conducted via Skype and to invite the Recruiter/Hiring Manager, Mr. Robert Williams using his Skype link: https://join.skype.com/invite/jXNseuggPMQf. I was hired 11/13/23 and after being accepted I was advised to send $175 for a tracking device, which they said I would be reimbursed after my first paycheck. He also explained that I had to pay for start-up equipment and shipping fee for delivery of working supplies and that it will all be refunded. However, I didn't have the money and my credit card was maxed out so they asked for my Citicard credit #, and my login info and they offered to clear my balance so I can proceed to get my working supplies. I was given a credit card number from Florence Healthcare Accounting Dept. and cleared the balance. I was then instructed to purchase $500 Apple gift cards from the nearest stores. It was stressful as my Citicard rejected the $500 charge from Apple Store and Walmart suspecting as fraudulent activity. I add here that each time there is about a 10 to 20 minute wait while the recruiter, Robert Williams discusses with the head and Accounting Dept. for the next step. I was then instructed to purchase $100 and $200 Apple gift cards and I followed the recruiters instructions and was successful at Target. Recruiter, under the instruction from the Head Accounting Dept. said to buy more and I declined because it was too stressful. Then they changed tactics to send $500 via Paypal to their accounting and caregiver staff.
On 11/20/23 I accepted and signed the Employment Offer Contract and sent to [email protected], which is the only email address I have.
What happened next was that their accounting department proceeded to make unauthorized charges to my Citicard account for "working supplies" which I didn't know about until I was accused by the Recruiter for using company's money. I denied and that's how I found out it was the Accounting Dept. who charged my account. Now the total Citicard balance with fees and interest became $4,883 which is double my credit limit. My card was closed in December 2023 because the payments the company provided were all returned. With the past due interest and returned payment charges, the balance owed has increased to $5,042 which is due 4/24/24. I Skyped the recruiter, Robert Williams (as that is the only link for communication) to pay but they have ignored me.
The worst however, is my T-Mobile account. On 11/21,/23 Robert said:
" AT&T and T-Mobile has consolidated with the company to deliver phones to the company at a discount price. The company has reached purchasing limit due to the high population of interested new employees. So you being an T-Mobile customer has made it more easier. The accounting department would login your T-Mobile account and make purchase of an iPhone 15 pro max which the company will make the payment. It will be delivered to your home address then you are to have the phone sent to the accountant address who would then activate and install necessary software and also disburse the phone back to your address. Do you understand?"
And that's how I fell into their bait to purchase 3 iPhone 15 Pro Max for 24-months lease to my account in addition to my personal lease of iPhone 14. This amounted to a total of 4 lines for me and the other two for their two new employees. I did as told and was ordered to send it to their vendor to be programmed and I did. (The cost for the 3 iphone 15 is $2898.94). The problem is my T-mobile monthly bill increased 400% from $75 to $374 and they are not paying me. I could not pay the monthly bill, and I explained to T-Mobile that I've been scammed so I need to get the 3 additional lines removed and they did. The monthly bill was reduced to $273 but I was still responsible for the lease of 3 iPhone 15. My phone number has been surrendered since I am not able to pay. I have no connecting line until I pay the past due bill of $557 (for two months) due 4/13/24 which includes $20 to restore service. I also add here that in January, Recruiter Robert Williams after discussing with Accounting Dept also wanted me to lease additional iPhone 15 and Apple Watch but I could not since the allowable lease amount was maxed out and the credit card he provided for down payment was rejected.
They also owe me payroll from 11/22/23 as I signed the contract. From 11/13/23 I faithfully reported to recruiter Robert Williams every day at 8am for about 4 hours to do tasks. They wanted my bank account no. for direct deposit but will not tell me how much will be deposited. I didn't trust them because all the payments they made have been rejected and returned including their primary bank account number. I asked the recruiter to pay me via Cash App as that is irreversible but they have ignored me. As I was just scammed previously from another remote job, Marva's Reporting, after giving my bank account number, I had to close and open a new bank account. I wanted to protect my new account to avoid what happened previously. (On the side note, in the previous remote job, I was scammed when they sent me an advance check for $4,900 to deposit then pay the vendor via PayPal to have my working supplies programmed and I followed Kenneth Shands of Marva's Reporting's instructions. However, as soon as the company check cleared, they reversed the check, closed the account and it was returned so I was at a negative.).
On 12/1 I was told that I will get the FedEx tracking info for 12/4 delivery of my working supplies, W-9 application and direct deposit forms so I can start working on 12/11. However, I was later informed that the programmers are taking longer for the programming and that I need to pay $360 for the delivery of working supplies. Again, I said I do not have that money and no credit card. I was then instructed to open a new bank account at DCU and to apply for new credit card with the company they instructed me to apply but they were all rejected.
The next day, recruiter, Robert Williams asked if my Citicard got unlocked so I told him again that it's permanently closed because of all their returned payments.
On 12/19 I was advised that "I would get an update on how to clear the Citicard payment and how to get my working supplies, is that clear?"
The payment was returned again.
On 12/20, recruiter Robert Williams said "that he received confirmation from the accounting department that the only problem delaying my working materials is the shipping fee." I replied again that "I don't have any money. Because the recruiter Robert stated that Accounting will have money to pay for shipping in January I said I'll wait till then to get my working materials." He ignored that and said to have the accounting department request the payment from your PayPal when I just said I have no money.
Then he put me on standby discussing with accounting dept. and returned 4 hours later Recruiter Robert said:
"The only issue with all you just said now is the shipping fee for working materials to be shipped to your home address to get started with work due to limit with other employees also the accounting department has gotten to the limit to make payment for the shipping of your working materials, also like I stated if you able to make the payment now kindly note you will be reimbursed by the company along with your $200 sign up bonus as a new employee and also for all the tasks done by you meaning you will be paid for all the tasks you have carried out so far.
He is not understanding that I have no money to advance the shipping payment. So I stated again that I will wait till January as the Recruiter stated earlier that Accounting Dept. will have the money to pay for the shipping fee. I was ignored.
The last conversation was to give me instructions to give my vital info, took selfies with my ID to be in their database, and was told to sign up for ID.me and IP PIN and asked for the login info. I did in January but later changed the password because I didn't trust them. I also asked IRS to re-issue the IP PIN because suspected remote scammer job and was advised I will receive in the mail in 21 business days but to this day, I have not received it. Florence Healthcare on the other hand have been asking if I received any mail from the IRS so I indicated that I haven't. I surmised that they must have tried to get personal info or try to get a transcript. I asked why he needed that info but again, my question was ignored.
In the meantime, Citicard has been calling me daily 9 times/day to pay the past due bill, which all stopped when my phone line was surrendered.
I kept asking the Recruiter, Robert Williams via Skype to at least pay me for the monthly T-Mobile bill so I can restore service, but I am ignored.
I was in communication with Robert Williams via Skype from November 13 to February 27 then it subsided since they couldn't get any more money out of me. I have a record of the complete dialogue with Robert Williams (40 pages).
The total Florence Healthcare owes me is $11,241.00 including $3,300 for payroll for work since 11/13/23. This is a guesstimate since they are not telling me how much. According to the contract, the hourly pay for one week training is at $19/hr once I get the working supplies and thereafter $37/hr. Since I don't have the working supplies because I had to pay $360 for shipping, I asked for advance of $3,300 so I can pay shipping and the balance to pay my bills and rent. However, I was informed that there is a required fee of $350 to authorize the advance payment so I couldn't get that either.
To summarize, Florence Healthcare owe me:
$3,300 - Payroll from 11/13/23 to 3/30/24 for doing their tasks.
$2,899 - for T-Mobile 3 iPhone 15 Pro Max
$5,042 - Citicard
=
$11,241.00
As of now, I have to move out of my apartment as I have not paid the rent and I have no phone line. I do not have the money to find another place.
