Hello! Same happened to me.

At first I was happy but when as long as I continue to read the email I realised it was a lot of missinformation and that was first red flag.

I received an email about a job offer from a lady named Kathy Ann to work at home till an office is open in the US then you would go to the office closest to you and work: this is what the email entailed.

Dear Applicant,

Your resume has been reviewed by our HR Department in reference (ziprecruiter.com) Human Resource Assistant to our AD posted on job for your position We are pleased to invite you for an online interview with Mrs Kathy Ann the company Hiring Manager as soon as possible 8 am-5 pm your time Via Google Hangouts. You can be interviewed any time between the hours of 8 am - 5 pm. The interview will last approximately an hour or less and will include a brief tour of the Pay Scale, Benefits and company etc.. You are to set up a screen name with Google Hangouts and add up the Personnel Hiring Manager Mrs Kathy Ann, on Google Hangout with the following email address {[email protected]} add to your buddy list ASAP,she will be online waiting for you to conduct your interview.

I am new at this, so I thought oh wow OK this is what I have been looking for. So I got on google hangout and added her as a buddy, mind you I have never done this kind of interview before so I had no idea what to expect. She proceeded to ask me question, as why should I be hired for the job, then asked me what my bank name was I did tell them the name of my bank ( I DID NOT give bank account number or SSN, I did give them my name, address,and phone numbers ( home and Phone). She said they had these positions open: Data Entry/ Receptionist/ Administrative Assistant/ Office Assistant/ Clerical Admin/ Accounting Clerk, and Human Resource Assistant openings. they offered me $50 an hour and $15 for training. They had me verify my name, address, phone number to send me a check for my office equipment, they were sending it threw FedEx the next day I was to receive it. My husband and I got red flags, the FedEx came today 12/10/2016 I got on Google hangout and let Kathy know the check was here the check is a Cashiers Check for $3990.10 for equipment. She told me to go to the bank ATM and deposit the check, it will take 24 hours to clear. When I got back from the bank I was to take a picture of the deposit slip and email it to her. I told her I was waiting till Monday to go to my bank and have the check , checked to see if it was a scam, she demanded me to go to the bank now and deposit it. I said I will not.( I am handing the check over to my bank) I asked Kathy Ann what her first and last name was and she told me Ann Kathy. I said No I want full first name and last, I am on the BBB site now as we speak, she told me Ann Johnson, and then she told me no need for that Bye for now. I hope this helps anyone else who has this happen to them. She also told me that a temp office is located in Gainesville Fl., and that they have one coming into Chemung NY , but would not tell me when.

Thank you so much for informing us. I too received this job offer. The scam itself has been around for decades. These particular pair of cons are very good as they have fine tuned their payout strategy to pray on us in desperate times as well as use up to date means and ways so that we feel it's legit at first. The check and account information are stolen from another company. Usually a completely different business type. They need it deposited or have it cashed immediately so they can then withdraw their portion before the check is returned or flagged. Big problem for those still naive to all of this is ... Once you cash it, you're now part of it. I have been a victim on both ends. Tragically the true account owner usually has no knowledge until contacted by a consume. It is then they contact the bank to report fraud and an even bigger nightmare begins. Personally in my experience by that time there were 20 + checks floating at various amounts. Many already cashed or deposited. It can be returned it's a just a process. Time consuming is an understatement. The energy put forth to recover cost me more in the end as I was unable or unavailable for my clients. Thank you again for sharing with us. And good luck in your search.
