Called and said I will be charged $300 if I don't turn on my computer.

I received an email from "Norton Lifelock" about renewal of my security software. Since it was time for my renewal. I called the number listed in the email to renew my antivirus software. I was referred to "Technical Support" which explained to me that a problem had occurred with their server and that I was due a refund and would get an upgraded product after I received my refund. At that point, I was asked how I paid for the product and I refused to talk to them. But when I opened the email, they down loaded malware on my computer. I contacted the real Norton who helped me remove the malware. What should I have done? Pay more attention to the sender email address - it was bogus. Don't call a "new" number. Norton told me that other companies like Amazon have been used in this scam.

A mass email of a bill was sent out by someone claiming to be Norton Protection. It was clearly an attempt to get me to contact them by saying the charges would be showing up in 1-2 days

I received an email to our business email address stating Norton Antivirus was auto-renewing our subscription (we has previously asked to cancel it), The email said if we wanted to unsubscribe and claim a refund to call the billing and settlement department as soon as possible at 1-580-441-0082. I called and a woman said they could easily take care of unsubscribing and returning the money to our business account. I was transferred to someone named Ryan who asked me to go to a site and access something that would give a security code that would then be entered into another field. The site was called AnyDesk and actually allowed them access to my computer upon which I was told they would unsubscribe the Norton antivirus. Then I was transferred to Allen and told they needed to access their own bank account via Bank of America and that the screen would go black so I could not see their account, this happened and after a few minutes came back up, I was asked to open my checking account so that I could see that funds were returned, I did this and then another window popped up and I was told to type in my name and the amount of the refund in $150.00 increments. As I started to type in 150 the cursor suddenly continued adding more zero's causing it to read 15000. Then the cursor move to the next line and suddenly stated the transfer was complete. The person on the phone started exclaiming "oh my god" you just had $15,000 of our money transferred into your account, he asked if I could see the transfer and I could see on my checking account that there as a credit of $15,000. He then explained in order to not bring any legal action against me or the business I would need to immediately wire the money back less the cost of the refund for the subscription. He then walked me through a wire transfer for $14,700 to a person named Popal Habibi in Alexandria Virgina who he said was one of the CEO's of Norton and that this would bypass their legal dept . He also said not to look at the account again for another 24 hours because any activity in it could pause the transfer and Norton would assume I was trying to illegally move the money. Long story short, after I got off the phone with this person and had a chance to actually think about what I did and review the email and all the red flags that were their I then realized they were criminals. When I looked at the checking account I found that they had moved $15,000 from the business savings and transferred it into the checking which is what I saw (this happened when the screen went black again and I could not see what they were doing but unfortunately the online banking screen was still up). So unfortunately when I saw the $15,000 in the checking and assuming I had accidentally done something or at least owed the money, being the only honest person in this whole mess I, I transferred the $14,700 which was stupid.

My wife was scam last year. They are offering a tech support plus virus protection. I called back and asked for a refund but they said they can’t. Now, they emailed me that I subscribed for another protection on my computer which I never did. This company is up to no good and I wish that they will be arrested for scamming a Senior Citizen like me. They owed me $349.99 last year, now they are charging me the same amount.

Email claims you have a bill and your norton membership is about to expire, a wants you to call a number. If you call the number they want you to log onto your computer and log into your bank account, they want you to download a program from anydesk.com so they can watch what you are doing...they then claim they refunded you too much money and they made a mistake...they insist that you go to walgreens specifically to purchase gift cards I order to straighten out mistake (this specifically case was asked to get 2 Nike gift cards-500 each and 1 apple gift card for 40) they get hostile when you refuse... they call from multiple numbers... in this case 1st number to call that was this imposter was 1-800-400-2492, 2nd number was 1-407-216-7623... they can make it look like they have put .only into your account and they also claim to use Wells Fargo Bank

I will copy and past the email I received. They make it sound like i've been charged by Norton when I did not order anything from Norton in years! Upon calling the number given, a man with Indian accent answered "support, may I help you?" I asked support for what company? He continued to say he was there for support but not naming a company. After I pressed, he replied "Amazon". I said wrong! The email you sent me says Norton. He then quickly hung up. Here is my email:

This person was very nasty to my husband. Called here three times in a row. Said price was one price, but not what was on the e-mail. Cussed at my husband. Said he was going to lock our computer and said go on line and put in your bank account #. Do not do business with anyone saying that they are from Norton

I received a e-mail from someone named Tommy. Saying that they received my payment for Norton. $415,00.

And I did it on line payment.

I did no such thing, there is a phone number to call. Yes i called it and told them if I find out they took money out of my account, I was going to kick there butt.

I told them I was going to turn them in too. And they hung up on me.

I received an email thanking us for subscribing to Norton 360 Life-Lock Plus.

No website provided (sure sign of a scam) - I called the number provided for support. I told the rep who answered (heavy Indian accent) that I did not authorize this purchase. He assured me this will be taken care of no problem. I gave the "order number" included in the email so he could "investigate". The rep needed a moment to look at his database (lots of other similar voices in the background). Of course, he found the charge. He asked if I wanted a refund, or if I preferred to cancel payment (read those options again - they make no sense - he just wanted me to provide my acct number). I asked to what account they had charged this fee. He read the line off his script about being accredited by the ScamPulse.com & not legally able to share that info (because he did not have my acct number - the scam is to get me to provide it). I stopped him and let him know I would not provide my account. I told him his scam was an embarrassment, it's like he and his pals weren't even trying. He hung up on me.

They indicated we had to cancel using "their form" so they provide you with an Ultraviewer verified ( Computer SSS-PC ( 38077513) publisher DUC FABULOUS CO., LTD ... to download and then they provide you with a "REFUND FORM" . Then a screen flashes and says NORTON Better Business Bureau stating something about executives from BBB. Received an email stating I was charged for $399.99 and to call this number for a refund. She downloaded TeamViewer software onto my computer. Then she had a man call me. He told me I had to log into my bank account in order to get the refund. He made a fake deposit in my account for $40,000 and told me I had to buy a gift card if I wanted my money back because he wanted paid. After I hung up the phone the second time and shut down my computer

He transferred money from One bank account to another at my bank.

Rec'd an email on Fri 4/9/21 from this person which had a receipt number and a billing phone number and a "thank you for your paymer" of $499.99 USD for activating Norton-360 Protractor ##. The charge to your checking account will be reflected on your bank account statement within 24-48 hours. Billing number: 1-888-461-1395. Renew Date: Apirl 09, 2021. I called the billing number to see what they would say. Person said he was with Norton and to cancel this charge I had to go to a Smart Bot site at his direction and give him a number and password from that site. The site appeared to be a site where once you connect your computer to the site, these low lifes could see anything you did on your computer.

The email had multiple misspelled words and the person who answered the phone kept stating this is renewing Norton software you have already, which was not true. I have not had Norton software on any device for over 10 years.

The caller told me I was about to be charged $299 for a Norton Deluxe package that I inadvertently had clicked on while working on my computer. She said that I needed to log on to my computer and she would remotely access my computer to remove the package. When I questioned why she needed to do this, she said that it was the only n to keep me from being charged. I asked for a supervisor and after questioning her, she told me I was crazy and hung up on me.

- Two Rivers, WI, USA

I received an email telling me that my Norton protection was expired. The address it came from was not the Norton address and didn't have the word norton in it. It also was a do not reply but then it said I could click on a certain tab to automatically renew the service. I'm assuming that if I did that I would be asked for my credit card information. I checked my Norton status and I actually have 277 days of virus protection left and they had just done a complete scan 3 hours before! Then after I sent this to my blocked addresses file I received another email from a different address but stating the same things and just saying my account is expired. I can't be absolutely sure that this was a scam but I think so since I checked my Norton account and it isn't expired, so it must be a scam.
