- Wichita, KS, USA • Dec 19, 2024

Received email from PayPal that $511.31 had been taken to buy Bitcoin and if the transaction was not accurate.I could get the money refunded in twelve hours. I called the number and spoke to A call center and completed a form for the refund which presented a transaction that they had deposited money into my checking account. Then I was informed. I had to complete a process of buying gift cards to reimburse them. For the overage that did not occur. As I went to the bank and the transaction was fraudulent, I could only see it on my laptop. It did not happen.

We've detected an unauthorized Coinbase transaction on your PayPal account. To ensure the security of your account and to receive a full refund, we urge you to contact our dedicated. I received 3 emails stating this. I called the number stated and they asked me for the ID #, which I didn't give and told them that I do not even have a Paypal account and then he hung up.

- Dayton, NV, USA • Nov 21, 2024

I received an email with my first and last name spelled correctly, attempting to send a fake pay pal invoice for 479$ for a laptop supposedly purchased on 11/20/2024. I have not purchased such an item and checked my accounts to ensure there has not been a debit in that amount. I did not call the number on the invoice as the invoice appears fake and has no account or purchase information on it. I am reporting this to warn others not to fall for this.

Also, I called and reached a person with a foreign language. He told me I had to fill out a form to cancel the order. I told him that I did not order the product and I would not complete the form. He could barely speak English and I don't believe he was with PayPal but this is concerning. Lastly, I removed all of my accounts form PayPal so that a charge could not go through -

Email with fraudulent invoice

- Cleveland, OH, USA • Oct 04, 2024

I got a text from paypal saying that the charge for 4.99 went through but that I owed $400 and then a bunch of texts with random numbers and letters. When I called the number, it didn't say paypal, it just said payment processing, and when I tried to ask about things, they hung up. So I called back and someone else hung up on me. And now they won't answer my calls. I don't have a paypal account and don't use it, so I don't have any charges.

Received an email including an invoice from PayPal in the amount of $499.99. Stating Online delivery. For Coin Base. With their Customer Service Number of 1-860-386-8450. With a purchase date of Sept. 27, 2024. I looked up PayPal's Customer Service number and the number that was given is not that number. Plus, I have NEVER used PayPal in my life. This is a SCAM.

I was sent an email from what I thought was from PayPal thanking me for a recent purchase I made buying Norton standard Lifelock antivirus protection plan for 2 years at the price of 349.00 dollars, which I did not buy.

The invoice looked very real, which is probably the point! Anyway I called the number on the invoice and told them that I didn't purchase that product and then they ask me for all my information so that they could issue a refund asap. I gave it to them and was told that the funds would be return to me immediately! They were very elaborate, Showed me that they were affiliated with the ScamPulse.com and everything i downloaded a bunch of stuff that was suppose to be legit like by.ly/com was one of them i can't recall the rest but it all looked above board! Now I'm afraid that they have all my info. to take what little money i get from the government for retirement. I really hope you guys can catch these people who prey on the weak and unexpecting people like me who Is living paycheck to paycheck and can't afford to lose 1 penny of the money they receive to live on. Thank you for listening to an old guy!

Respectfully **** ****

I placed an order through PayPal and wanted to dispute it so I called the bank but they told me I had to contact the seller. I could not get a hold of the seller so I contacted PayPal customer support. The rep had me download an app called AnyDesk because PayPal needed to verify my identity. They said they were going to take the money out of my account to verify who I was and then put it back into my account but they wiped my account.

- Albuquerque, NM, USA • Jun 04, 2024

Received a fraudulent email claiming that I had ordered a digital camera kit for $598 and had an order number as well as a customer service number attached (830)715-4431.

The scammers had me pay for three different gift card purchases totaling $398.

I have also notified and submitted the email to PayPal as well as informed them and had to deactivate my debit card and order a new one

- Bainbridge Island, WA, USA • May 29, 2024

I received an email with a fake invoice for a shotgun I did not order and clearly would not order. There is a disclaimer at the bottom of the email to call (888) 682-2864 if I wanted to dispute the charges. I knew instantly this was fake and did not call.

- Chicago, IL, USA • Apr 28, 2024

Last night I was calling PayPal regarding an issue with my account. I called a number listed on Facebook 402 935-2050. I spoke to them for a long time, I stupidly gave them too much info regarding all the info for my checking account. Today I realized I was scammed. The number I called listed as PayPal wasn't PayPal. I told the scammers all my checking information. Today when I called PayPal at another number 888-221-1161 they told me that was their only and correct number. I finally realized I was scammed and I froze my checking account at BMO. Tomorrow I will go into the bank branch and set up a new account. Last night I filed a complaint with you regarding PayPal. It was just scammers.

- Chicago, IL, USA • Apr 26, 2024

I took a look at the email, it was from paypal and it showed me a purchase that was purchased and the total. IT Looked suspicious because I have never, ever used Paypal for anything in my life.
