They sent braces for legs and back telling me that they were from Medicare. I called Medicare and told them that according to the information sent the bill was going to Medicare! I felt it was fraud.

My dad started receiving all these braces in the mail, I didn't think anything of it, I didn't know. He said someone called, asked alot of questions about arthritis, etc.. He's 80 & went along with it. They called often, sometimes several times a day. It could be different people or different numbers. Then, he got two genetic saliva test in the mail, which he did & mailed them off before he said anything to me. He said when he got the last saliva test, someone called him & walked him through how to do it then a "big white truck" (assuming Fed Ex) came & picked it up. They must've been tracking it & knew when it was delivered. Well, then I knew something wasn't right. I started calling some of these numbers back & they were personal numbers or went straight to a busy or disconnected signal. Then I started looking up the business names/addresses that the braces & the saliva tests were coming from. The addresses don't match up with that business name or didn't exist. On Google maps, when I looked them up, you can zoom in on the building (usually a strip mall type). If there was another business next to the address they were using, I called that business & asked if there was "said" business next to them...No there wasn't. I have blocked numbers from his landline, but more call daily. So far, he has gotten several braces & two saliva tests and they were all billed to his Medicare or Tri-Care Insurance. They went so far as to contact his primary care doctor, requesting the braces and his medical and pharmacy information. They doctor did not give this out and told them they do not write prescriptions for braces (I have this fax to prove it). But, it shows on his insurance explanation of benefits where they billed him anyway and it says it was prescribed by his doctor.

Party called and acted as if employee of Novant Hospital . Wanting to confirm wife’s primary care physician. Next day a package arrived by UPS containing back brace? Wife doesn’t have any back trouble and didn’t request anything. Very highly believe this is a Medicare fraud scam. Internet has complaints from other people detailing same story involving AVA Med Supply who sent the brace

2 days after my husband returned home from a surgery, he received a call that appeared to be from a local phone number. The caller indicated they were from a therapy company to send equipment he needed for his PT, and asked for his Medicare #. My husband provided the number but instantly regretted it. When he did a reverse call back on the number called - no answer. I then attempted to call the number identified on Caller ID - no response and no place to leave a message. We notified Medicare immediately. A couple of weeks later we received a pkg with 2 wrist guards with a form to assign Medicare benefits. (husband's surgery was not wrist related) Our medical team has confirmed they did not order and husband does not need wrist guards. Packing slip indicates it was packed by a Hermes Pak n Ship, Jonathan Quiles. POLO CMS paperwork has an 866 number that doesn't show up on reverse call look up. We are returning the package to the sender.
