Purchased a husband safe horse who turned out to hardly know how to steer, let alone be beginner safe. The horse purchased had also foundered which my farrier was able to detect almost immediately. I purchased a 2nd pony who passed before being delivered, then purchased a 3rd who upon arrival and discussion with another from the farm turned out to be aggressive and dangerous. The first horse *only one I kept* has been vet bill after vet bill. He arrived underweight, and sick. He has not been sound since arrival. I lost thousands of dollars, and never received a single apology. Just took my $12k and went about his life.

Do not buy sight unseen from Mercier Neal at Ridgeview Stables Sales Barn 2. I have been searching for a safe horse for my 10-year-old daughter for months now. She is cognitively impaired so she really needs an easy going horse.  He was very well aware of my daughters disablity. He sold us a "beginner-friendly" , sweet, 7 year old, thouroughbred mare named Honey. We were skeptical at first because of her breed and age but he guaranteed us our daughter would be safe with this horse--she wasn't a typical TB and had been through some extensive training with no baby brain. We asked a lot of questions and he calmed our fears. He was honest about her needing teeth and hooves done. We were under the impression she was up to date (UTD) with her vaccines. She has none whatsoever. Only a coggins. He did not disclose she cribs or that she is head shy. When I talked to him about any issues he just responded, "She never did that here". After the horse settled into her herd for a few days, we brought her into the barn. She was not an easy catch. She was skinny, which we couldn’t see in the photos due to them being photoshopped. Her head shyness was so bad she reared in the crossties while my petrified daughter watched (don’t worry she was far away). Under saddle, she is very green and forward, a typical young thoroughbred. Not at all suitable for a beginner. Don't get me wrong, this is a lovely horse, but should not be sold under the guise of being beginner friendly. Someone could have been badly injured.  The horse needs a lot more work from a very experienced rider. We found her a new home with a horse trainer because we do not want to participate in the exchange and get another problem horse full of dishonesty. I don't even think an intermediate rider could work with her. Buyer beware.
Beginner Safe Horse??

8/29/2022 I went to Ridgeview‘s Barnes and sales to look at horses. Neal always claimed on Facebook that he would put the right person on the right horse. After he saw me ride this one horse he said it was perfect. Then he put Lacey with me. She insisted that other people wanted this horses and demanded money down. I Venmo her $2000 and was coming back in two days to take a lesson and bring a check for the remainder plus she suggested an additional $700 cash for them to keep the horse so that I can build my additional barn. I came back two days later and told her that I wanted to get the Horse Vet check before I finish paying him off. She blew up at me and said that was unacceptable there is no pre-vet checks. You either pay him off or you lose your $2000. I took my lesson with McKenzie and felt OK about the horse. I gave Lacey the check and the cash just to not deal with this. I was really hoping this horse is perfect for me. On Friday 9/9/2022 my husband and I picked up the Horse and brought him home, Saturday. I had him vet check him out Saturday morning 9/10/2022. He said the horse wasn’t sound “ Horse is off in both front legs

Both knees are very arthritic / upper joints/DJD

Left eye has the beginnings of a mass SCC

Very head shy and possibly a bad molar ( wadding up his hay)” I then called Neal and told him that I was paying somebody to bring him back. He told me there was no refund . I called again with my attorney and he got very defensive . Ridgeview Stables Barn is not a legitimate place to purchase a horse. Neil and Lacey James are not to be trusted.
