Scammers on Home Improvement
When the crew arrived in unmarked vehicles, they began clearing our driveway and started paving, but after the first load, they stopped, said they needed more material. They were supposed to just use what they had left over. The initial offer of 50+ yards for $1,950 quickly escalated when Corey measured and calculated that we owed $12,700. After I refused, he lowered it to $10,000, which was still far more than we expected.
The most alarming part was when I made the check out—Corey asked me to leave the payee blank, saying he had a stamp for it. It turns out he filled in his own name and attempted to cash it directly at my bank. Thankfully, the bank called me, and I was able to intervene, as the check was supposed to be made out to Road Masters and deposited, not cashed.
In hindsight, I should have been more cautious, but this experience was nothing short of a nightmare. I urge anyone considering using Road Masters to be extremely careful and insist on clear, written agreements before any work begins. Make sure they are a legitament company 1st.
