Road Masters Reports & Reviews (3)

I recently had a very troubling experience with "Corey, the owner" of Road Masters, that I feel compelled to share. Corey approached me (and I grabbed my husband,) claiming they had extra material from a job nearby and offered to pave most of our driveway at a rate of $30 per yard. However, he refused to provide a formal quote or agree on a final payment until the job was done.

When the crew arrived in unmarked vehicles, they began clearing our driveway and started paving, but after the first load, they stopped, said they needed more material. They were supposed to just use what they had left over. The initial offer of 50+ yards for $1,950 quickly escalated when Corey measured and calculated that we owed $12,700. After I refused, he lowered it to $10,000, which was still far more than we expected.

The most alarming part was when I made the check out—Corey asked me to leave the payee blank, saying he had a stamp for it. It turns out he filled in his own name and attempted to cash it directly at my bank. Thankfully, the bank called me, and I was able to intervene, as the check was supposed to be made out to Road Masters and deposited, not cashed.

In hindsight, I should have been more cautious, but this experience was nothing short of a nightmare. I urge anyone considering using Road Masters to be extremely careful and insist on clear, written agreements before any work begins. Make sure they are a legitament company 1st.

“Tony” the owner approached my wife, saying they (Road Masters) were doing work in the area and had about 60 yards of material left that he could replace most of our driveway for a price of $30 per yard. He would not agree to a final amount for payment until he saw how much he had used and he would not give a formal quote when requested. The crew (who showed up in non-marked vehicles) got to work and cleared our existing driveway and paved through the first hopper. Once this was done, the work paused with part of the driveway torn up and a some paved in an odd pattern. There was another load, but we were told the price could as up quickly. When they were done, he measured and calculated that we owed $11,000 for 366 square yards. This was significantly more than we were led to believe by how it was originally presented, I.e. 60 yards at $30/yard for $1,800. There was an omission of what kind of yard was being used between billing and material.

A man named Tony stopped by he had a white truck and said he was with a company called roadmasters he was going to do the asphalt redo the asphalt on my driveway and I got the pricing he said but he never gave me a quote and I asked him for an official quote. They were supposed to come out that afternoon to complete the work but they never showed up. When I called the man that answered said that Tony had gotten a hold of him and let him know that they could not complete the work on Friday because they ran out of the asphalt they were going to do this with asphalt left in their truck after other jobs. He said they would come on Monday. I reminded him that I would need an official quote that stated the price and exactly what they were going to do and also information about the five year warranty they offered before they could start the work. They never showed up on Monday. When I call no one answers the number. I also looked up the address that they gave me which was 5651 Coventry Ln. and it is actually the address for the UPS store.
