Social Security Administration Imposter Reports & Reviews (447)

- Laramie, WY, USA

They last asked for my name, which I refused to give them. I answered one call, no one replied once I answered, and have all those calls since. Within a couple days.

Consumer received a phone call from an individual claiming to be from the Social Security Administration. The scammer claimed that the consumer's social security number and the consumer name was being used to open fraudulent bank accounts. The scammer used scare tactics, like jail time, to threaten the consumer. Consumer provided $8,000 in prepaid gift cards to the scammer. Consumer also received a call from an individual posing as a Sheriff's Officer in regards to Social Security who threatened to arrest her if the money was not provided.

I keep receiving phone calls from a 469 area code that comes up as a Dallas TX number. The initial recording states that my SSN has been detected as being used frauduately and a warrant has been issued for my arrest. If I would like to know more, please press 1. When a live agent picks up, they will hang up once I start asking questions.

I received a robocall message on my home phone. Claimed to be with Social Security. Stated my Social Security was going to be cancelled or suspended. Wanted me to press a number. I hung up. I did not press any numbers or call the number back. 216-462-4096 was in my caller ID.

Several months ago - and again today - I received a robocall allegedly from Social Security claiming that my account had been compromised. I did not return either of the calls.

- Burlington, NC, USA

I have received numerous phone calls and messages from phone numbers with a 704 area code stating that the social security administration has suspended my social security number due to fraudulent activity and that I should call them back to discuss reinstatement. When I finally had time and was curious enough, I followed the instructions to press "1". A man answered and when it became clear that this was not a legitimate issue and an attempt to get me to share my social security number, I confronted the caller by saying that I KNOW the social security administration will never call me to ask for my social security number. I told him that I knew this was a scam to which he responding, "Scamming is good." I told him to never call me again and that I was reporting the number to the authorities. He told me he didn't care and became aggressive and threatened my family. He said I could tell the government and our new President and it wouldn't matter. I am placing my report here and with the following website as directed by the Social Security Administration. I fully suspect the name, Gary G*****, that appeared on my caller ID is a case of identity theft and don't expect that Gary G***** is the real culprit. The individual I spoke with did have and accent that may have been middle-eastern but was NOT Latino. I doubt very much can be done about this harassment but I am hopeful. He did not request payment of any type because I confronted him before he could ask. Shortly after hanging up I received another call from Dioncio M***** at 704-965-5366. When I answered, there was silence and then the call was disconnected.

I am repeatedly getting calls from persons with a foreign accent stating that he/they are calling from the Social Security Administration. They state that my social security number has been used in Washington and Texas and indicate that the purpose of the call is to help me resolve the matter.

I have asked if they have sent me the information in writing. The abrupt response is that they are calling to help me resolve the matter and they repeat the information they state at the beginning of the call.

On one call, I asked for a call back number and extension because I was unable to discuss the matter at the time, and they again refuse by ignoring my question and repeating that they are trying to help me.

These calls have come repeatedly over the last few months.

I recorded the numbers from the caller ID which I used to file this claim.

We received a call this afternoon from someone claiming to be with Social Security. We usually do not answer calls. I answered the call because I was expecting a call and the phone number was similar to ours. He asked for my mother who is elderly. When I questioned the caller he hung up. I wanted to report the phone call. The phone number in our caller ID was 440-428-6018.

Consumer has been receiving multiple calls claiming that there is fraudulent activity on their Social Security account. Consumer has been scammed in the past and immediately hangs up before hearing any of rest of message.

Elderly man was contact on Sunday, October 25, 2020 by phone. The caller said they were with the Social Security Administration and continued to tell him that his social security number was being suspended because of fraudulent activity. The man was asleep at the time and in his sleepiness, gave the caller the last 4 digits of his social security number. As the caller continued to talk, the elder woke up to know something was strange. The caller asked for his bank account information which the man did not provide. The caller went on to say a car was found at the border with drugs in it that was rented in the elderly man's name. He finally hung up but was disturbed by the call. He called me, a family friend, to tell me about it. I wanted to report it to the ScamPulse.com because I myself have received those calls but never answer them. The caller would always leave a message but I never called them back.
