- Syracuse, NY, USA

Received a voicemail saying I needed to "call back to us at the earliest possible on our number before we begin with the legal proceedings." They provided 210-607-4371, which is a San Antonio TX number (I live in NYS). Since I couldn't tell who was calling, I called back. When I did, the person who answered said it was the Social Security Administration. They asked for my name and SSN, which I started to give and then stopped. When I said I wasn't comfortable giving them that, they said I could call my local office and asked why I was calling a Texas number anyway. I just said I would call my local office and hung up. Couldn't get through to my local office, but came here and saw the same scam reported by others. BTW, they called back a couple of minutes later and left the exact same voicemail recording.

201-369-4621 called and left message. Said i needed to call that no. They were social security administration and i needed to call before it was turned over to legal services. I blocked the no.

Did not talk to them.  Left message i needed to call to avoid legal.

Someone saying their name is Damian Hampton but is obviously a robocall says I need to call  804-569-5071 right away or my SSN will be suspended. I did not call back, but they keep leaving robo messages every day.

Received the following voicemail. "Hi this is Damian calling from the head office of the Social Security Administration. Your social security number has been compromised and used for illegal activities. Please contact your allotted paralegal officer at 804-569-5071 immediately. Failing which we will freeze your assets in forfeited. I repeat 804-569-5071. Thank you.

This appeared to be a computer generated message. I did not return the call.

I received two phone calls today from Essex, Maryland 1(443)579-5816. I didn't answer first one. Answered second one. Said he (very pronounced east Indian accent) was from the Social Security Administration - said he was a senior agent and gave me a badge number and assured me it was legit. Asked if the number I was calling from was the one where the call came in - I said yes. I told him I wasn't going to give him any information. He said to rest assured he had all my information and that my social security number was being used fraudulently in Texas. It was then that I hung up. Looked up the local (Boise, ID) Social Security office number and called them. Our office here said that didn't sound like something any of their offices would do and suggested I file this fraud information and then set up my account on line so I could see if anything looked odd. Our agent here stated that he didn't see anything unusual. No application for benefits, no address changes, no requests for new card, nothing. He verified the last card issued and it did coincide with a date that would be correct. Thank you for looking into this.

Called and told me my social security number was suspended, transferred me to the "Marshall's office". They both had middle eastern accents.

- Allen, TX, USA

I just got a call from a guy with a very heavy foreign accent saying he was in Washington and calling from the Social Security Administration. He said that my Social Security would be increasing as of the 3rd of May and I should have received a packet of information in a big white envelope. I said I had not and he told me I would.

He said he was calling to confirm my details and he had my name and address but asked if I had a middle initial. I told him that I did but if he worked for social security then he would know what that was. He then started talking about my social security being paid into my bank. I told him I wasn't going to talk to him anymore as I knew it was a scam and I hung up.
