Called this number because it was the first results that was listed. Spoke to the rep and he wanted me to download connect wise app to help me for "security" reasons but I found that extremely suspicious. I told him I'm gonna do research and call back. I found the correct number and the rep said that the 808 number is is scam. Beware of scammer number! The website is scary identical.. Don't ever download an app if a company asks you to.

Laptop lit up and made loud sounds and had this number to call. I spoke to a man at that number who told me to press certain keys on the keyboard to make it stop. I explained I was 95 and unfamiliar with computers and he said to call back when someone was with me. I since learned this number is part of a scam

I was at first skeptical, but eventually was roped in. I paid the initial fee of 509 00 and each month they woukd contact me to give me my monthly service. Everything was going great until i got a bad reading one month and i coukd not use my computer for 3 days until they "solved the threat". Eventually it was "solved" and they told me it wasnt an attack through my computer, but through my inteenet server and i coukd get lifetime protection on all my devices fot 2200 00. At this point i had bo reason to doubt them because i got good service so far, at least thats what i was lead to believe. They told me to call them in the bext few weeks. I came across XMobi on google, clicked on their website, and was presented with an advertisement saying their software can remotely login to a snapchat account with nothing but a username. I wanted to play a prank on my brother who does not live with me. I purchased a subscription for $50 with the sole intention to use this feature. Once payment was complete, and I was granted access to my account, this feature was nowhere to be found. I spent hours looking, and spoke w support to find a solution. Support informed me this was not a feature they offered. I then went back to their website's landing page, and sure enough the advertisement was still there. I took a screenshot, sent it to the support rep, and requested a refund. I was told I wouldn't be granted a refund due to them describing my reason as "personal" and explained they're unable to refund a crypto payment. About 30 minutes after her response, I checked their website and the landing page had changed. I have screenshots of everything, showing the URL and landing page with time stamps, documented conversations with multiple support reps, and have read & downloaded their terms & conditions and refund policy.

To note, their "billing manager" reached out with an email domain reading "@UmobiX". I believe these companies are the same, or related some how, as they both provide similar services and I had no contact with UmobiX before she reached out to me regarding my refund request with XMobi.

Technical support scam

- Des Plaines, IL, USA • May 22, 2024

Was on tablet in doing my e-mails and all of a sudden the screen was blocked all sorts of noises alerting me that someone is trying to get into your computer. (Needless to say it was the scammer trying to get to me) there was a message not to turn off my machine, to call the number below for help. Even though I had a contract with Geek Squad I called the number. They said they were a Microsoft company who helps with this problem.. The alert also had Microsoft name on it. I believed Patrick Sonley Emp # MS/19521 IP Address 9821343207. I was asked the check # I would be using to pay for this. I said a check why just a check to pay? The answer that's how we do it. I did give him a check # then he sent me to Peter a Tech. Stated someone in China was doing child porn on my device. Network security breach. Now I am 78yrs old not high tech they are starting to convince me. I can't tell you how many times I stated I Haven't got $299 to pay you I am a senior on a fixed income. they placed malware into my computer but was unblocked. I took tablet to Geek Squad to get rid of all they had placed into my tablet. Now I have blocked their e-mails and some of their phone numbers because they keep calling to send them their check. I have reported fraud to FTC, ScamPulse.com in Georgia, Microsoft, my Bank (Who told me not to send the check they would have more of my information) do not have any further calls to or from them). I did call the non-emergency # to police but they were unable to direct me to someone for help in fraud mater. Still working on that as I write. Now the last call from them the number 518-994-0927- ext 1017. from a Kathy Jane or Jayne collection team to call them regarding payment. They will send this to collections with penalty charges & legal consequences if I do not call. Oh, after speaking with a tech named Peter he sent me to web security Gary Walter, I assume he knew what was wrong since they did it themselves to bait me. He told me all the things that went wrong, IP address hacked, all imp passwords hacked., and I could get their support for 3yrs for over 1,000 dollars. I said definitely not I can't pay you $ 299. In March I had someone telling me they were from Lifelock and wanting ^over $400 for renewal subscription I took to geek squad & had my tablet checked. Everything was okay with it that time. Also, now I know that Microsoft does not send messages of things wrong with your device until they are called by you with a problem. I am going to have it tattooed on my arm, so I never do this again.

I was attempting to find the phone number for Instagram, and found a website with an alleged direct line to Instagram. Since all other numbers were not helpful in connecting me with Instagram, I called the number in question. I hung up when I was not directly connected assuming it was a defunct number, but I was contacted by another number [(816) 946-2404]. The caller claimed to be from Meta Instagram and said that we were disconnected abruptly. This made me assume that the new number was related to the first one and I proceeded with the call. I gave the email connected to the account (which was stolen in a previous incident ten years ago) and the username handle for the Instagram account. This was the only information I gave regarding my identity. They then asked for the phone that I used. When I said I was using a computer, they asked again for what type of phone I was using. After saying Android, they asked if I was ready to verify information. Upon saying "yes", the agent hung up on me.

The perpetrator is a female with a noticeable accent. She is part of a larger call center that potentially spoofs the numbers of other victims in its operations. I had not given any other information besides my Instagram account handle, the email associated with it (which was already stolen in a prior incident), and the fact that my phone is an Android. Upon realizing that a scam may have occurred, I searched for similar cases and have found that the "say yes" scam sounds similar to what I had experienced. I immediately changed my phone number after the fact.

We called all expert solutions , you called us back . They tried to convince my HP printer wouldn't connect because we needed to buy security product from them for $1512.00 Using the fear sell they pressured my husband 2 men names Allen Reed and Alex Morri the most american names for Indian sounding accent. They DID jump on our computer using a team viewer of sorts . They reasoned that our IP address was compromised and they couldnt fix and connect the wireless computer without me buying their package.

I fixed the printer myself for free. PLEASE INVESTIGATE this FRAUD of a business. Using fear, and false reasoning to try and SCAM $1500?

- Coopersburg, PA, USA • Apr 15, 2024

Had an issue with my laptop not communicating with my printer to print wirelessly. I GOOGLE Searched this issue and got a response with a phone number. I believed that I was speaking to the company that made my printer (HP). The person on the phone had a deep Asian Indian Accent and was sometimes difficult to understand him. After the work was performed I was charged $349.99 and given a ONE YEAR tech support guarantee. I subsequently had other issues with my printer-laptop connection and eventually did talk with a TRUE HP rep who informed me that MM TECH TOOLS "IS NOT" affiliated with them and that I should demand a refund. I called MM TECH TOOLS today and had a hard time with the rep on the phone. A subsequent phone call to them later in the day resulted in a rep stating that a refund will be made in "the usual 3-5 business days". I'll check with my credit card company later this week to confirm that the refund was made.

Scammer stated in order to fix my outlook.com email address they would have to get a refund from the Best Buy Greek Squad of $120 so they would be able to charge me $100 to fix my computer email address that could only send but not receive. Then they stated there was a mistake in the refund. Instead of $120 and the check sent was $1,200. Later I was told by NFCU Fraud department scammers have very sophisticated software and they can manipulate the screen of what you see. So they accessed my computer and showed an excess amount of dollars in my account of $1,200. This was after several times the screen went blank several times. Then they wanted me to go get an Apple gift card which then I would scan and email it to them. After they received the refund they would fix the release from the Geek squad where I bought the computer and they would be able to go online, gain access to my computer and fix the email account. This they did but when they were accessing my computer my mouse did not work. Somehow they were able to obtain a screen shot of my Navy Federal Credit Union web page. SO I went and bought $1,200 gift card at an Apple store. Scanned it with the numbers exposed. The next morning I logged onto Navy Federal Credit Union and there never was any account that showed an excess of $1,200 but instead showed an account missing $1,200. I still had the card so I went to the Apple Store and spoke with the manager. The manager took a scanner out of his pocket and scanned the gift card. He stated there was no money left on the gift card. So it dawned on me I had been scammed. There is no way to get the money back. Later I was told by NFCU Fraud department scammers have very sophisticated software and they can manipulate the screen of what you see. Navy Federal Credit Union fraud department then changed several accounts belonging to me. First they deleted the account used in the scam. Then they created a new account and emailed me instructions regarding what they had done and that I should notify any auto deduct accounts of the new account.

Initial contact made via pop-up message re my internet connection. It cost $599 to make a one time fix. Then I was repeatedly contacted by a man calling himself Max Rogers who told me I owed even more money (amounts varied from $1,100 to $13,900) for "services" I never requested; no contracts were signed & my repeated requests for a letter explaining all of his companies activities were neglected. Max Rogers gave me three company names for the checks (Devine Mart, Fortune Kart, and Ultra Kart) and used various phone numbers as a contact. On three separate occasions Max had me write a check to cancel services, then another check to finalize the cancellation. Then, he called me (always from different numbers and cities) to cancel again as 'hackers" got into my system before the finalization process could be completed. To reactivate the final cancellation I first needed to pay $1,000 to eliminate each "hacker". Each call came with a treat to access my bank account to withdraw all money owed (up to $96,000) if I did not pay the smaller amount requested. On two occasions the "cancel services" price was over &13,000 for which I was to pay using two separate checks. I finally decided to no longer make payments, but I have continued to receive calls demanding payment with the threat to take the money from my bank accounts. I went to my bank to cancel these accounts and alert them to this situation. At no time did my caller ID show the name of the caller or the company, only various cities and states from which the calls were routed.
