Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
> Buyer not local and I agreed to receive a cashier's check to hold furniture while Buyer arranged to pickup furniture.
> Buyer said cashier's check would be higher amount to include cash needed to pay his contact when picking up furniture.
> Buyer requested upon receipt of cashier's check for me to deposit and send to Buyer a copy of my deposit receipt for their financial record.
> Cashier's check arrived via USPS Priority Mail 2-Day under tracking # 9405 5126 9935 0105 1774 29
> Cashier's check was in the amount of $2,690, which is $1,940 higher than $750 purchase price and thus is expected to be used for shipping the furniture. This amount for shipping is a red-flag.
> Buyer had become exceedingly 'pushy' upon receipt of cashier's check on my end for me to get it deposited and for my sending a copy of my deposit receipt.

> Navy Federal Credit Union asked for the Serial No and confirmed this was not valid in their system. They additionally asked for the Date and Amount to double-check other records and confirmed these were not valid. They additionally asked for the Remitter name to cross reference their member account database and confirmed this was not valid.
> Navy Federal Credit Union advised to destroy the cashier's check.
