I was trying to renew my driver's license and didn't see that it wasn't a .gov website. I filled in all my security information that would be needed for the license, so they have everything. After I submitted my request, I got a pop up saying that I have to get my license through the DPS, but they still charged me $34.95.

- Houston, TX, USA • Feb 05, 2024

I attempted to renew my driver's license online but clicked on a similar site that was .org instead of .gov and submitted my personal information before realizing my error.

After realizing my error, I called 1 (877) 934-1721 (the phone number listed in their DL guide) and spoke with an agent identified as Jacob.

I requested that my credit card not be charged, and the org delete my personal information.

Jacob stated that my credit card wouldn't be charged but didn't respond to deleting my personal information.

The website is txdlp.com https://txdlp.com

The website claimed to be a place you could renew your Texas driver’s license. It asked for a lot of personal info, charged debit card, then never sent anything.

Thought it a driver license renewal website

- Dickinson, TX, USA

I accidently clicked the site assuming that it was a legitimate site to renew my Texas Drivers license. After I filled out all of the info on the form (A lot of private info that I thought was not needed to renew my license); all I received was the Texas DL-14A FORM that I have to take down to the drivers license office my self.

Their site on the FIRST PAGE states "Drivers License Renewal - Replacement and Update" NOT that "Drivers License Renewal FORM - Replacement and Update FORM"

Before I understood what the site was, I paid $35 via my credit card

- Tyler, TX, USA

I was trying to renew my drivers license address and clicked on the box to update. After I paid, they sent me nothing but an application to fill out for the drivers licence. I gave my name, my dob, my maiden name, and address just like a dmv. Credit card was charged $34.95 for an application that i cam get free from the dmv.

I got charged then got a message I need to go into the DPS to renew. I need my money back! I cannot afford to be scammed I have no job

The website doesnt have clear verbage saying that they arent a government website they just charge you for filling out your application. They say that they can help you renew your listens all all they do is charge you for fillinf out your own form.

As I needed to replace my driver license, I came across the texasdlc.org site as a way to do it. The name of the site looked legitimate. It required me to provide a lot of sensitive info and made a PDF application using my data. The charge was $35.95. I felt cheated: the service is absolutely useless, the charge is unnecessary, there is a lot of sensitive info that can be used wrongly. Beware of a scam!

i was tried to renew my driver's license online, when this wed site pops up, it doesn't tell me this website NOT renew my driving license instead only provided a renew form. why i have to pay a form that actually free? the website said that " they are not government agent" after I did pay for the "renew."

This truthy a trap that trap peoples pay for something sound like they will promise to do but actually not.

They charged 34.95 to fill out a form to where I supplied all kinds of information which could easily be used to steal my identity. I am so upset that I did not realize it was a fake ORG site and not the GOV site. They refunded my money but the information is out on the dark web now.

Who did you contact for a refund?

Report to 911, they will tell you to file a case with IdentityTheft.gov, then contact your bank for the fraudulent payments. You will get your money back.

Just fell for this scam! Google is definitely to blame here. Google recommended this website as the first choice at the beginning, and after I submitted my information and my bank account got charged illegally, Google and this website's behavior completely changed -- you will not find this website from the Google list anymore and the website will always pop up a window telling you that you acknowledge that TexasDLC.org is a privately-owned website so that they will be free of legal issue. I think they use a socket or something to track the user, and as soon as you fall into the scam they will alter the behavior as something legit. Be careful!

I put in all my info then before I hit send I saw the note at the bottom about not being affiliated with dps thank God I realized I can't believe stupid racist google has this crap pop up first for dl renewal [censored]

I got scammed. After contacting customer and getting a refund (wish I could refund my information as well) I asked the agent about ethics and if she felt like the process was predatory. She said " its all written on the website that they never claimed to be affiliated with a government agency, that their goal is to "streamline the process"". $25 is a stiff price to pay for a printable document they made for me to take to the DPS and I didn't expect her to agree with me, but predatory advertising has to be sensored by these billion dollar organizations that run the internet, Google is to blame here in my opinion.

They redirect drivers license information and collect SSN and private information. They are a scam based over seas.

Do not use this website! It comes up as the first suggestion when you google renewing your Texas Driver's License, but it is not legit! It has you fill everything out, including your full SSN (which the real DPS will only ever ask for the last four digits) and Mother's Maiden Name, etc. You pay $25 for a step-by-step guide on how to renew your license, which is fully available for free online. Like a previous review states, essentially this website is charging you $25 for a redirect link. Don't fall for it! I don't know if they are going to sell my information now but I went ahead and placed a fraud alert with the credit bureaus.

Hi did you ever find out what happened? I just did the same thing now I am scared they will sell my information too.

We were trying to renew my wife's drivers license and the texasdlc.org website represented itself as being part of the Texas DPS. Unfortunately the timer on the screen did manage to make it feel urgent and I failed to notice the small details that would indicate this as a phishing scam website. They charged $24.98 for a simple page redirection, which they made feel like it was part of the Texas DPS online renewal process. All the information they charge for is absolutely free and only through their manipulation of search engine results do they appear at the top of the online list. They guarantee 100% satisfaction, shown on their website, and I am far from being satisfied.
