Scammer doesnt have real name. ***** *****, urgent notification for the USPS shipment 8L9D7 from 05/17/2020. Click: l8smk.info/GpJhrk9Cxj

- Durham, NC, USA

I keep receiving texts with a variation on the following message with a link: “[name], important alert for your USPS package S57F7 from 06/27/2020. Go to: m3svc.info/4pLUkedw56“

- Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA

I have been sent multiple messages from different numbers using my name telling me to pick up my package that they are holding from a few months ago. The link wants CC information and is likely to contain viruses.

- Columbus, OH, USA

Message reads: [name], urgent alert about the USPS package 6J44D1 from 05/04/2020. Proceed to m3svc.info/4pLUkeqx7P

- Mount Airy, MD, USA

I clicked on the link and it wanted me to take a survey. I didn’t take the survey...but I don’t know if by clicking on it...did they get any information from my phone?

This also happened to me a few weeks ago with the Venmo scam asking to click a link because they were hiring five people.

*********, final notification regarding the USPS package 7L54G8 from 05/15/2020. Go to: *********************

- Edwardsville, IL, USA

I've received multiple texts stating that I have a USPS package from April 2020, and only then provides a link. I could tell by the link that this was a scam, so I have never clicked the link in order to avoid the possibility of getting a virus.

- Fayetteville, AR, USA

Received a text saying, "[name], final notification regarding the USPS package 8R27S7 from 7/17/2020. Proceed to l8smk.info/GpEfguiAK1" after ignoring similar texts in the recent past.

- York, PA, USA

This is one of the many phone numbers who have texted me saying they have a package of mine and there’s a link to click on.

- Washington, DC, USA

Receive text message saying "Urgent notification for your USPS delivery ###### from dd/mm/yyyy. Go to: m1shv.info/lvQREc6AJ0." The date is from back in MARCH. Once you click on the link it first goes to a m1shv.info website.... then a jtuzd.rdtk.io... then to https://rewardsprogram.daooftoday.com. Once there it is telling you that it is a USPS survey and if you complete a survey to say thank you you can get a reward up to $120. If you click OK to start it tells you Congratulations. That you've been chosen to receive a "special reward from our sponsors" and that after you answer a few quick questions you can choose from "luxury watches, designer purses, exclusive jewelry sets, skin care products, and weight loss supplements." It tells you that the "exciting offer" is only available to the first 10 users who have received a "special invitation" and will expire that same day. I did not continue clicking after that.

I truly thought it was a text from USPS. I don’t know why I thought they would text me. It just threw me off. I’ve never seen or heard of scam about claiming a package from the post office.

- Grimes, IA, USA

Got a text about a USPS package with a link to click on.

- Lutherville Timonium, MD, USA

I have been receiving multiple text messages claiming there is a package from USPS that is due to me.

This is a scam!

- Bellville, OH, USA

Second time receiving this text message in less then a week

- Columbus, OH, USA

I was texted by 714-642-8571 saying they had come acrosss a package from April owd to me. To assume ownership and confirm delivery I stupidly clicked the link which took me to a USPS survey page. I didn’t click anything else and exited the site.

I received the following text message. This was received after I’d already received 2-3 other text messages using my name, telling me about a package from April that was still pending. I didn’t trust those, so I didn’t trust this one either. However, this specifically mentions USPS and the others didn’t. I noticed the tracking number was quite short-way shorter than normal USPS tracking numbers. They also used my name.

Here is the text:

Ellen, important notification regarding your USPS shipment 6G72R4 from 08/15/2020. Proceed to l8smk.info/GpCzcSaOoM

Got a text saying that I have a package that needs to be picked up and to click the link.

- Oklahoma City, OK, USA

A person called claiming to be with USPS. He said if I didn't give him my social security number they were going to freeze my account. But how are they going to freeze my account if they don't have my social security number? I knew it was a scam. He said his tag number is #147.

- Colorado Springs, CO, USA

I was actually waiting delivery of a package today (7/29/2020), so when I received an email in my inbox from the USPS indicating that an attempt had been made to deliver a package, I responding by simply indicating that the postal person could deliver my package the next business day. Giving no other information than that, I pushed the reply button and then immediately saw a list of suspicious-looking contact names attached to the USPS forwarding address (I have included these "contacts" in the email address used by Scammer section). The email was absolutely authentic looking, including the USPS logo. I was duped because just by chance, I was expecting a postal package delivery, but the markup of the form also lended itself to authenticity. Don't know if this was "phishing" or some other nebulous scam, but I think folks need to be alerted. Fortunately, I didn't give any other information other than that someone would be home to sign for the expected package. I'm writing and filing this complaint in order to alert others to this deception.
