VIN History USA Reports & Reviews (149)

I was looking for a used car and searching for online services for VIN history. I found the site https://www.vinhistoryusa.com/ as the site looks like it's the relevant to USA by the name. While looking at VIN history, it doesn't ask for the money but asked to provide payment details. Later, I found some transactions posted on my Credit Card (25$, 1$, 1$, ). I have called them, canceled the subscription If it opts. They keep posting transactions even after the cancellation. In one month, they have done more than 10 transactions with 1$ (with 2-3 days of an interval). Each transaction will have a different transaction description and different merchant. But they are all same. I reported to them multiple times, they do the reversal of 1 transaction and say it's a system error and will report to the management about this issue and the remaining will be reversed in a couple of days, which can be never done. I fed up with them by calling asking for the reversal. Finally, I have canceled my credit card to stop the fraud transaction.

I have been receiving 24.95, 18.95, and 1.00 charges to my account randomly from different vendor names for the last 6 months. Vendor names show up as ZST, Vin History, Mrs Market, Shaylas Vin, Vehicle Report Systems. This is definitely fraudulent and I have reported this to my bank and had to cancel my cards. I called the support line and the rep told me she would refund all transactions.

Never signed up. Multiple charges of $19.85 and $1.00 over several months totalling $129.85. Don't know where they got my credit card. Felt certain it was a scam when options on their automated telephone systems included checking on refunds. What legitimate company gives enough refunds to have it on their main menu -- and it wasn't asking for refunds, it was "status of refund" -- like there are lots of folks expecting refunds and not seeing them. I just called the credit card company to deal with it. The charges have several different company names, some with the same phone number and some with different ones.

They continue to charge for a subscription I never signed up for and refuse to cancel despite multiple communications. Total and complete scam artists! Do NOT use this “service”. Not surprisingly, nothing appears to be happening though MULTIPLE complaints have been filed

My “free” report as advertised on google has resulted in repeated charges on my card despite assurances of cancellation. Absolutely a fraudulent site run by scammers. Steer clear!

I was also scammed. BBB advised reporting it to the New York state attorney. As consumers, we should all report it to protect others. Let's all file the complaint to get them to shut this site down!

I was selling a car on Craigslist. A person seemed interested. Asked if I could get a vehicle report. They recommended a website. So I went to digitalvehiclehistory.com. Signed up and gave my card information. Now they are taking money out of my account without permission.

We signed up with VinHistoryUSA to get a report on a used car we wanted to buy. After getting the information and noting we would be charged $1.00 for a one-time use, if we cancelled within 30 days - we would not need to pay the $18.95 monthly fee. We called and cancelled 2 days after the first and only use.

We were immediately charged $18.95 and were able to get credit for that, BUT we kept getting charges for $1.00 about every 2 weeks which they would refund after a 40+ minute OFF SHORE call. During this call I noticed they kept trying to get "just a little bit more personal information" from me. First 4 digits then 6 digits of our credit card number, then our email address. Throughout the whole process, I involved our credit card company and had them dispute the charges. The final attempt (3 months in a row), they don't show us as having an account with them, even though they keep charging us $1.00. Our credit card company is handling our case from this point forward. Capital One credit card advised us NOT TO RESPOND to the email from Vin History USA requesting more information so they could try to find our account.

I found the website looking for a vin history report. Went ahead and paid a dollar for a single report. They then went ahead and decided to continue to bill and withdraw 18.95 every week. It was a couple of months before I noticed, upon which I contacted them several times and requested they stop. They said they did, yet they continued to. I had close the account to stop them, they took over 200$ before I stopped them

Site said $1 for one report. When my phone recieved notification of my bank account being billed the $1. I got another text that same second saying i was also charged 18.95. Nothing was ever mentioned about a subscription or anything other than the$1 deal.. And the report gave no info at all. This site is a big fat scam.

The “refund” DOES NOT WORK.

I received a “refund confirmation” email, AND NO REFUND WAS INITIATED. The email is also missing essential information, like dollar amounts and IDs that would be found in a legit transaction. The chat bot and email is clearly designed to make it APPEAR as though a refund is being initiated.

I disputed the transaction on my Apple Card (the message-based support system is seriously convenient), was refunded the $18.95, and issued a new digital card number which will prevent any additional recurring charges.

So same issues as most others. I have been trying since June to cancel the reoccurring chages, and I have had no luck. I did try the automated phone first, giving the last 6 digits of my debit card. This was in early June, around the first week. In July, another charge. This time I gave them my email address. I did not get an email confirming the cancellation, which I guess I should have been more diligent. So here we are in August, I did call again and give my email address. No follow up email, so this time I did follow up with the online chat. I did get a response from Michelle O, asking "what is the name of the company that charged you?" Seriously? I guess we are playing that game now. In the meantime, I did get my card temporarily suspended and filed a complaint with the bank. I am guessing that I probably won't get the refund ( I asked for a refund from June to August since I have been trying since then to cancel), but I am hoping to get the charged canceled.

Site DOES NOT CLEARLY DISCLOSE OR REQUIRE A EXPLICIT OPT-IN to a recurring monthly charge ($18.95).

The site is structured in a way that HIDES THIS INFORMATION and the “purchase report” button and surrounding area DOES NOT indicate that an additional subscription will be started. There is also no mandatory OPT-IN checkbox or other indicator.

Further more, I was NOT SENT INFORMATION on being enrolled in recurring payments and the I found out of the unwanted enrollment from a banking alert.

I’ve cancelled my subscription-I-did-not-want and should get a refund, hopefully, as I caught it in time. If not, I will dispute the recurring transaction - that - and block all payments via my bank.

Ok, everyone $1 seems so easy and simply until you have to deal with the reoccurring issues, I am 60 years old and knew better carfax $40 and a complete legit report and your done! Not going dealing with these $1 dollar bait companies over and over they do not go away they keep hitting your checking accounts, for me it is the $1 and the $18.95 over and over it is like s bad night mare.

I wanted to find all the options my vehicle had by searching the VIN so I could list it in the for sale add. I used Google to find a website that provides such info and vinhistoryusa.com was on the top of the list. It is listed as free in the Google search, however when you enter your Vin it requires a payment and says it's $1. However they charge you $18.95.

Same happened to me...ugh...called my bank to reverse and block- Charge for $1 and $18.95-total scam! Think about how many might not catch it-

This company keeps withdrawing from my account months after I requested a refund and cancelled their services.

They claim to charge $1.00 for their service to get vehicle history reports using vin numbers. They do not render service and then proceed to charge you $18.95 on top of the dollar. It is charged through other company names that are not them. If you try to talk with them, they shut you down unless you threaten to report them. They steal credit card info and charge the card through bogus companies.

This website is a complete scam! I checked my credit card and noticed this random charge on my account for $18.95. I used the website for a vin look up. There is no phone # or address of the company to even contact to dispute the charge! I contacted my credit card company immediately! I dont even know where Shayla comes from as that is not the name of the company that I used originally. Word of advice, just pay the money and get a Carfax!

They tell you it will cost $1.00, you utilize the information they offer which tells you NOTHING about the vehicle. They then charge you $18.95 for a monthly fee on top of the $1.00 and NEVER DISCLOSE ANYTHING ABOUT $18.95!! That was 3 months ago and I cancelled EVERYTHING with them and tonight I find that stupid $1.00 charge again. I am so mad I had to cancel my credit card.
