I got a check in the mail saying that I was elected to be a secret shopper for Walmart.

Entered by ScamPulse.com Staff - LJ 2-13-20

I went online line looking for work at home. This opportunity came up Job Seekers. I filled out an application online for a Secret Shopper position with Wal Mart. I gave my name, address and phone number. They did not request a Social Security number. I received a letter in the mail with a check for $2600. The letter instructed me to deposit the check. Keep $600. The extra $100 is for gas and any necessary fees. After I deposit the check I was to notify James Peterson. Text him at 407-487-4380. The letter also stated to purchase two separate money orders for $1000 each. The mailing came from Harry Louis Holiday Island Sid 110 Woodscale Dr. Eurika Springs AZ 72631 Phone number 561-375-9080. That is is the address on the envelope. The letter shows phone number 407-4874380. I did not call or text them. I sent no money. I became suspicious when I looked at the check. The paper feels funny and the printing is slanted, That's when I decided to call the the Better Business Bureau.

No one except the check. My bank took one look said scam we will not even except
Let alone deposit it!

Would like to know finding on this scam tried of these people that are defrauding honest people and scamming to wreck their livelihood!
Thank you
Sincerely

Two ach withdrawals from two Wal-Mart's in two in PA and TX. We don't do business with Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart's Loss Prevention Department has no interest in investigation, or assisting in apprehending the thieves. Next call is to the FBI. Maybe they can get more cooperation from Wal-Mart.

Fortunately I received the email and reported it immediately. I received an email from what appeared to Be Walmart. The email claimed that my job application had been approved and I would be compensated for being a secret shopper. The email asked me to proved personal information through an application process.  The email was signed by Walmart Support.

I was sent an email looking for mystery shoppers. They offered approximate $500 per shopping event. I was sent an email accepting me as a shopper. No phone contact at all. They sent an email explaining I would be receiving a package. The package contained instructions and a check for $2,600. I immediately new this was a scam. I checked the website for the bank address. But, there is no business address. The only contact info is James Peterson at 407-4874380. I was to text this person AFTER depositing the check into my account. I checked the website for Walmart scams and this appears to be one.

Received the letter and check from Walmart Global Business Services stating I had overpaid on services from a product purchased at Walmart or Sam's. The check looks fake and the letter stated if the name was spelled wrong to write void and mail back and they would correct it and send another. The spelling of my name was wrong. The bank on the check was Texas Capital Bank. I took the check to Walmart to make them aware of this.

Received a text message from the number reported on 26December2019. The message stated that I won a $1000 gift card from Walmart and that I should click the link in the message to collect. Also the message addressed me by my first name but was mispelled.

I received this text message saying I had a chance to win $1000 from Walmart. I do grocery pickup from Walmart and if you do a survey from your Walmart store you have a chance to win a $1000 gift card. This is why I went ahead and started to do it. I had to spin to see what I won. It came up spin again. This time it lands on $1000 Walmart gift card. Then a timer starts counting down from 5:00 minutes to click and claim your gift card. I didn’t feel right so I closed it. Later I tried again and it did exactly the same thing clear down to the timer starting at 5:00 minutes again. No way I would land on free spin and then the gift card again plus getting a second chance with the 5:00 minutes. I knew if I went on to next step it would ask for personal information. I checked Walmart’s website and it said they never contact winners by text! I just realized it says: Congrats LUNDY! I should’ve known I am not LUNDY or even know a LUNDY!

I received a call stating the caller was from WalMart Capital One Card Services. When asked if this caller was from WalMart or from Capital One, they said it was all the same and asked for personal information to "pull up my account" The only information I gave was the spelling of my name and my zip code. They repeatedly asked for the last 4 numbers of my SS # ~ I then hung up and called the Customer Service # on my Capital One card and they checked my information and said it had not been comprimised at this time. I do shop at WalMart, but I do not have a WalMart credit card. Thank you for your help.
