Westat Reports & Reviews (10)

I have been contacted via email ([email protected]) and then by "Johnson Miller" via text at (380)390-0467 regarding a job position that I was very much qualified for. The "interviewer" James Hamilton ([email protected]) did a text interview and after two messages being sent back and forth, sent a copy and paste of HR stating I was hired. Thus they said that training would be $25/hour and I would be paid $45/hour as I worked. I was skeptical as they told me to purchase a gift card (Razer Gold or Steam) that is used for video games and upon questioning and looking them up thoroughly. I have been blocked on Gmail as I questioned and called them out on being highly a scam.

Be careful, this person is a criminal and counterfeit the company check. this person is wanted by the FBI and if anyone received the check, do not deposit it and contact the company or destroyed it. FBI is under investigation of these people as criminals, they try to pin the location.

I received a job offer from this email: [email protected]. I received a text message from Johnson Miller @ 380-390-0467. I did an interview on Skype via chat with James Hamilton who says he is the online interview manager for Westat. His Skype name is: live:812690fe8e59b92b

I received a text offering a work at home job for the company Westat. They said I would get paid $25 an hour for training and $30 an hour after training. The female also said we had to send and email of offer letter and W4 said I would receive a start up check to purchase the equipment I would need. I received a check a week later of $4,950 and I noticed that was a lot of money And it is fake asked me to buy $100 iTunes card and vendor to setup apps on my laptop for training purposes. He asked me to send scratched card with numbers. I told him am not dumb that i can send you like that. I can only provide receipt that i bought the card. Its my card and its for training purposes then only me its using for work training. He showed me a check that we paid $2850 to customer. It looks fishy to me.

I received a text offering a work at home job for the company Westat. They said I would get paid $25 an hour for training and $30 an hour after training. The female also said we had to contact via Skype and said I would receive a start up check to purchase the equipment I would need. I received a check a week later of $4,950 and I noticed that was a lot of money and they made a mistake on the address of the company on the check. I looked up the company so that’s how I know. I called the bank that was on the check so they can verify it and they told me it was a fraud and those checks have been going around. Below is a picture of the fraud check I received.

A major company with a gmail email address is never a good sign. No company address, phone number, or website. Still I researched the real company on their official website as well on here on the BBB site.

I was first contacted by Simon Orr from [email protected] and then told to email [email protected] to speak with a Katherine Larson. I was contacted over Google Hangouts for an "interview". They asked generic questions and after I answered them I was told I was hired. The position was for data entry at $25 an hour. I was already suspicious about the job when they sent me a message telling me they would send me a check to purchase a computer, an iPhone and router and whatnot. Then they sent me a message saying they needed me to buy a $50 iTunes gift card and that's when I realized it was truly a scam. I ended up emailing the actual company to find out if it was a scam and I was informed that it was in fact a scam.

I recd an email from Westat to do work at home doing data entry and they sent me a check for $2800. I was instructed to deposit the check in my bank account. I asked my bank if the check was legitimate and they verified that it was. Westat told me to purchase $2000 Amazon cards at $500 each; also $800 Itune cards at $200 each. I was to take a picture of the cards and email them to Westat -- I emailed them yesterday August 21, 2018. BBB gave me the numbers to the FCC and FTC to report this.

- Caldwell, ID, USA

Offered employment with company that I had previously applied with at an unusually high pay scale. Confirmed with company directly rather than simply follow through with process that scammers provided.
