Notes from : Tracie A Daniels DVM 8/12/20
Fall 2011: I was approached by staff members from North Florida Animal Rescue (NFAR), a massive new facility being built in Wellborn, Florida to the tune of many million dollars, by far the largest financial expenditure in our rural area in my lifetime on an animal facility. They wanted to hire me to come on board as their official staff veterinarian and to help set up the medical operations and to spearhead the opening of a reduced-cost public clinic to help generate income for the organization. They had been given my name by several people and knew I lived close by, and that I had been working in the same business (low cost clinic / high volume spay-neuter) exclusively since 2009.
January 3, 2012: I officially accepted the position at NFAR but it took many months to get everything ordered and get the medical center finished and permitted. I continued working for my previous job during this time. It took nearly six months to get it up and running for the public, although they had been taking in local animals on a small scale before my arrival and taking them to other area vets for care.
5/28/13: I verbally resigned in a staff meeting and gave 30 days’ notice. (see resignation letter)
6/20/13: My last day at NFAR as the veterinarian. Doors were closed to the public, I removed all medications that were controlled, and I was told the organization was completely out of money. So…millions and millions of dollars only lasted them, 2 years???
