I was contacted a couple months ago on my cell phone from someone claiming to be Joseph Peterson from Your New Tennessee with an offer to purchase my Timeshare in Mexico. I was intrigued but immediately skeptical because I was not looking to sell (and it seemed like a fake name), but he had all my information about the type of timeshare, location, and what we spent.

I was busy at work and asked him to send me information in writing. He called back and asked if I had received his email, but I told him I didn't and I was too busy to talk. He tried calling back a couple times but I didn't answer. Then I forgot about it until a couple weeks ago when he called back and asked if I had received his appraisal letter. I again told him I had not, so he sent it to me, and this was the first time I actually saw an email appear. I was afraid to open the attachment (perhaps a virus), but over the phone he quoted a price worth double what we paid. So, thinking this is too good to be true, I looked on BBB and sure enough - I see the same scam happened to someone else. I never cruelly opened the attachment, or was never asked to send any money... I imagine that is the next step.

I hope that reporting it here will help authorities investigate.

My husband and I have a vacation membership in Cancun, and because of health issues, we wanted to sell it. We contacted the resort to give them the first chance to buy it back, however, they were not doing any buy back this year. A couple of months later, my husband received a call from Your New Tennessee, saying they had a buyer for our membership and wanted to make an offer. The offer was almost 4 times what we initially paid for the membership. The broker who called was Faira V. Jackson, and she handed us over to Brian Carter, who was her supervisor. He assured us that we would pay no money until payment was in our bank, then we had 5 days to pay them their 8% commission. He also said a Title & Trust Company would be contacting us with escrow information and closing documents. We were contacted then by Title Two Investments with documents to open an account with a Mexican bank. Now, they informed us that we would have to pay $4872 for a registration permit, but the buyer would reimburse us 100%. They then forwarded us escrow agreement, registration documents (in Spanish and English), and wire transfer instructions. The first red flag was them asking for the money up front. The 2nd red flag was in the Escrow Agreement - they listed the buyer as a company called EMARR out of Dubai. When I researched the name, there is a big property company in Dubai, but they are called EMAAR. It seemed a little funny that all throughout this document, the escrow company was spelling their own client's name incorrecly. Also, on the registration documents, they spelled our city of residence wrong. I contacted the resort and talked to member services, who told me that they never give out any information to third parties. Also, there is no such thing as an 'International Fee' as the member ship is for the right to use, not for an actual property. When Brian Carter called again to see if we were going to do the wire transfer, my husband told him that we were not, it's a scam, and we were forwarding all the information and taped conversations to the ScamPulse.com and the police. He then threatened us with legal action, which we replied - great! we'd love to see you in court! Haven't heard anything back from either company since. Beware of YOURNEWTENNESEE and TITLE TWO INVESTMENTS - they are very professional, and all the documents look legitimate, and they have all the answers to your questions. If you haven't initiated the contact, DON'T FALL FOR IT and DO NOT SEND MONEY!

Contacted by Real Estate Company "Your New Tennessee" that later sent an "offer" on behalf of their client, that they stated secured their real estate company to purchase timeshares from owners. Said they'd send us an appraisal within 2 to 4 business days. Got email stating property was worth twice what we paid. We assumed this was a scam, checked ScamPulse.com site and sure enough, someone else with similar story that this company had pursued getting money from. We've been subjected to many of these scam attempts while on vacation in Mexico, but never phoned directly before while at home in Canada from people who had information about the location and type of our vacation property. They had information that we owned the property when they initially made the call and named our resort etc. They sent an official looking offer but on close inspection some wording seemed off.

They seem legit because they have several different people call over several weeks to go over the info and answer questions. They have official forms, etc. Don't ask for money until after several calls. However, I didn't believe from the beginning because they offered a ridiculous amount to buy my timeshare, $275,000 with zero negotiation. When something seems to good to be true... So I strung them along to see what would happen. They are a registered business in the state and registered with BBB, but it is all new, since April 2017. The address is a real address in downtown but I couldn't tell that they actually have an office there. They send an offer, then have so called Title Company call you to set up an account in Mexico. They don't tell you to fund it yet. They only mentioned that there would be a registration fee of over $6,000 but not to worry about that yet. I wouldn't have to pay until the buyer put my money in a trust account. I would supposedly get legal contract first. So far, these two forms are all I have seen. No legal contract. This all looks like a scam. I am not setting up any account or sending any money.
